Day 343: 3.5 miles + Birthday Success + Book Review

Thank you for your birthday wishes! :) I left messages for each of you in the last post (as per usual!). So on the eve of Austin’s birthday I couldn’t really sleep. A) I was excited to give him his prezzy. B) He wasn’t home and as much as he has work stuff I can’t get used to sleeping alone, especially in the house. So I woke up feeling like poo. On the plus – Austin LOVED his gift. He seemed so happy with it and excited to get it set up – woo! Gift success! Here’s pics of his room pre-fridge, and I snapped one with the fridge in on my phone (so not the best pic). We’re not sure if this is the best spot for it yet, but we wanted to start getting it cold!!

As you can see, little Reuben likes to hang out in here, too! I think it's a great space for Austin to have upstairs with his office/TV/xBox, etc. all in one place!

I headed off to work and had a busy day in the rain. Blah. At lunch I walked 3.5 miles… (burned 290 calories) and finished Time Traveler’s Wife! I loved it! I don’t want to post too much on here (I’ll post following my Book Club Meeting/the movie on Wednesday, August 26) but I will say that while it took me a bit to get into it, I loved the story. It was a love story, but it was also a story of survival, of overcoming a strange disease, of trusting that while you may not understand what someone is going through or when they’ll return, you know they’ll be there for you. It was just really good and I can’t WAIT to see what they show in the movie (and bitch about what they leave out of course). If you do read it – don’t focus too much on the dates – just the ages of the characters (you’ll see what I mean if you read it!). :)

After reading/walking, I stayed busy all afternoon and left work, passing the gym, heading straight home for a steak dinner out! Well Austin changed his mind – he said he’d rather stay in, get a pizza and watch a movie. It’s his birthday so I’m in!! But I’m STARVING so I have some jalepeno crunchies. Then the pizza gets there and, while watching 2 episodes of Dirty Sexy Money and Wolverine, I consume 3 slices AND about 8 mini cookies (Trader Joe’s). Ugh. I felt SO crappy but tired and carb-hungry. I ended up at 2,015 calories, 302 carbs, 70 fat grams and 68 protein grams. Guh – not enough protein, too much fat, calories and carbs. Bleh. Here’s what I ate. So gift = success; nutrition = failure. Oh well – another day, right?! I hope you all had great Wednesdays and thank you again for all of your birthday wishes for Austin.

Being over tired will do that to you! I definitely noticed WAY more cravings yesterday when I was feeling so run down. You never know...you're body may have just been needing it.

I ate about 300 more calories yesterday than I wanted to and I feel a thousand times better. Nothing a good walk at lunch can't fix!

Sorry the eating didn't go so well yesterday. As you said, today is a new day... :)

The fridge looks great! I'm glad Austin loved his gift...

Happy Thursday!

Still have to catch up on all the blogs I missed! But was it your birthday, too? I hope it was awesome!

such a cute room! i always get carb hungry when im tired, but at least you didn't over-do it that bad. 2000 calories is still a good day in my books!

Glad you like the book! That is on my 'To-read' list.

Don't worry about those extra calories. Just get back to it today and you will fine. Have a good one!

Ahh! Your house just looks so great. I haven't been keeping up with your house blog, but I have bookmarked it for when we move and house decoration is more of a priority ;) I really need to get my degree framed! I just saw yours in the photo and it reminded me!

"and bitch about what they leave out of course" Haha. So true. I have the book on such a high pedestal that I know the movie won't be good enough, but I am still beyond excited to see it!

That is such a thoughtful and wonderful gift :) So glad he liked it! I always get really eager before I give gifts too!

I loved your comment on my blog tonight :) I always think about the modifications between my/Josh's dinners as practice for a kid haha.

That sounds like a perfect birthday celebration to me =) It was well worth the extra cals!! I am thinking about downloading The Time Traveler's Wife to listen to via my Ipod for my drive out to Colorado... Not sure if I will like this form of it (despite how great it sounds) but I will need some form of entertainment! I saw a preview for the movie the other day and it looks good too. I really like Rachel McAdams.
