Me & Austin’s Anniversary, My Sweet Award, Q&A, 4 Miles

Hola!! Thanks for you lasagna ideas!! I'm definitely into trying a veggie one. YUM, and a traditional meat lasagna sounds pretty tasty too. And, Gabriela - thanks for that suggestion to try Fitnessista's eggplant lasagna - I've been wanting to try eggplant parmesan - sounds SO good!!! So a few questions have been asked that I haven’t gotten too so here goes!

Thinspired: I exclusively use Trader Joe’s mushroom marinara. LOVE IT. It's inexpensive, low in calories and tastes fabulous!

Shelli Ryan: I’m actually a bit underwhelmed by this season of Big Love so far. SO MUCH happened last season that now I’m like whatever. And I DON’T think Ben was banished. I mean really. And I don’t see why Bill’s parents are hanging out again – BAD idea. I’m not feeling it but I have hopes it will turn around!

Inmytummy: Sprinters are these! I like them! click to make larger!

I think those are the ones I missed/failed to respond to!! If you have a question for me, holla!

So… I didn’t post again yesterday or get to read your bloggies because yesterday was my two-year anniversary! Yes, me and Austin have been married for two years (since 2.16.08)– so wild to us because we feel like it hasn’t been that long, while at the same time we feel like it’s been so much longer (since two days ago was our 9th Valentine’s Day together!). It’s been a blast of a ride, and so exciting to see what will happen next and where life will take us! Love it!

I started my anniversary by working, walking 4 miles during lunch with Stacy, working some more and then heading straight home to get ready for dinner at Pampas, an Argentine steak house we had heard wonderful things about from friends + Urban Spoon! I haven’t had steak in YEARS (reintroduced ground beef a while back on the blog… but steak has been foreva!). We had a lovely dinner, shared a yummy chardonnay, salad, and I had a filet mignon (Austin had a ribeye). Everything was wonderful and the service was perfect. GREAT evening. For our anniversary we were given our choice of dessert – and we chose to share a warm chocolate brownie cake with a scoop of icecream! SOOOOOO good. Here are a few pics.

Yummmssssss
Austin digging in NOT wanting to have his photo taken (the video is better - swears)
Me in my own personal heaven! haha (forgive the lack of makeup - i'm so stuffy and my eyes are all puffy that makeup is pretty much out of the question!)

I think I’ve told you this, but me and Austin don’t really do gifts. We make a trip of it or buy something for the home (or buy a home!), or something like that. But Austin got me a cute happy… he had a little plaque made to celebrate my ‘1,000 miles in 2009.’ I knew he was proud of me and happy for me, but thought it was TOO sweet that he thought to do something to commemorate it!! I can’t wait to display it in my office – what a thoughtful husband!

So that was my night – what a LOVELY Tuesday!!

How do you like to celebrate special occasions or anniversaries?

Has anyone ever made you a plaque or award for a personal accomplishment?!

Oddly enough, I started a book on Sunday and finished it yesterday (while IT was working on my computer!), and on the way into work I finished my audio book. SO, I have TWO book reviews to share tomorrow, as well as some more snow pics (we got Reuben in the action!!).

Oh my gosh, you guys are so cute and I'm the same way! At least I was with my ex, we were together for 3 years and we didn't really do gifts (he would want to at times); I'd much rather travel or have a day of fun or a sweet thoughtful gift like yours than something purchased 'just because.' BTW, totally want that brownie--haha!

Sounds like an awesome Valentines day! I also listen to audio books, they are really good for making the drive to and from school once a month (4.5 hours) a lot easier. What do you listen to?

I agree about Bill's parents on Big Love - and that twin girl - over it!!
I don't think Ben in banished either and I hope stuff starts happening soon! I read that they signed on for another season so I'm sure things will pick up!

Anniversaries - we took a trip to the beach for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I'm hoping we can do something like that again!

Happy Anniversary! I think you and Austin have been together for a similar amount of time as me and my husband (in terms of dating), and we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary in June!
We don't really do gifts either--we go out to dinner, go on a vacation, or buy something for both of us...for V-Day it was a Wii :)
Thanks for answering my marinara question ;)

How sweet is your husband?!?!?! What a perfect gift and so thoughtful! The hubby and I don't do gifts either, I would rather spend it on a vacation or somthing for the house for sure. OUr timeline is similar to yours, this was our 8th V day together and will be also celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary this August. This year, we are going back to Maui so is many gifts wrapped up into one ;)

Happy Anniversary!

me and my BF dont really do gifts either. If we do we always talk about it beforehand so we know what we are getting. it is rare to get a surprise gift. for the holiodays he got me a pair of ugg boots but we went together and made sure they were the ones I wanted. I did the same for him, getting him something he knew he wanted. I think this can be more special sometimes than a complete surprise with something you dont know if you wasted your money on! I love the idea of doing a joint gift liek a trip for the both of you or spending time doing an activity!!

looks like the perfect anniversery!! love that dessert!

Aww,l the plaque is so sweet! That brownie looks dangerously delicious :) The BF and I do small gifts (chocolate, flowers, baked goods, etc) for Vday and our anniversary, and save "real" gifts for Christmas and our birthdays.

Anniversaries are celebrated at the little Italian restaurant we met at on our first date (blind date!).

That plaque is adorable! The best presents are sincere and well thought out. What a sweetheart!

I've been a reader for forever, but never really commented -- just saying Hi and Happy Anniversary!

Oh, and Pampas is my parents' favorite place. And even though I'm not a huge steak fan, I love it too!

Happy Anniversary! How thoughtful & creative of Austin... I never would have thought of that gift!

I like to celebrate anything by going out to dinner! I prefer food over gifts, but gifts are nice, too. :)

Aww, Happy Belated Anni! That is SO sweet of Austin! What a great day, despite your being sick (poor girl!).

Huz was a comic strip creator for a while and made a cartoon panel of he and I seeing my first ever shooting star together for one of our anniversaries (a dating one, I believe). He's super creative and sweet like that, too!

Congrats on your Anni and sooo jealous of your dessert! YUMO!
