Our Potential Pupper, 4 Miles, A Bit of Cooking

So like I briefly mentioned, I've been wanting to get Reuben a sibling! Reuben, for those who don't know, is our 3-year-old, 6-pound Shih Poo, a mix between a Shih Tzu and a Toy Poodle. Aside from the fact that we love his personality and everything else about him, we love that he's hypoallergenic, non-shedding, easy to train and of course, cute as a bug! I've heard that two shih tzus don't do well together, so I thought a Maltipoo would be perfect, a mix between a Maltese and a Toy Poodle. Meet this pup, who I hope to meet in person on Sunday, October 24. She will be 16 weeks (same age Reuben was when we got him!), and she won't get bigger than 4-5 pounds (we want a pup that will be smaller than Reuben to increase the liklihood that he will be the dominant one as per his personality). We love that she's a total furball and looks JUST like Reuben did when we got him (well aside from the coloring of course... and gender clearly). I HEART her little brown mask and brown nose, and hope that Reuben likes her, that she has a sweet personality and that she is a healthy little fur baby. Here's some pics from her breeder, Christi, who has been SO sweet and great to work with:

Don't you think her and Reuben would be the best of friends? I hope so. She's a little ewok doll - just like Reuben was when he was a pup - see:
I wonder if she'll change colors too! Reuben is practically all gray/black now!

Anywho, these are the days of my life. I'm very excited, and appreciate you guys' feedback on introducing a new pup! I've been doing research and definitely feel that a girl may be best for Reuben. Then again, I hear of people having great success with boys too so I guess as long as their personalities jive, boy or girl, i'm good to go!

Other than puppy stuff, yesterday was pretty standard. Just work, 4-mile walk during lunch, more work, and then I cooked a bit! I'm going with meal plan #7 this week:
  1. Breaded Chicken Sandwiches
  2. Easy Yellow Curry
  3. Spaghetti
  4. Bacon/Egg/Cheese Muffins
  5. Red Curry Chicken
  6. Baked Pesto Chicken
  7. Baked Swiss and Sausage Omelet
  8. Bourbon Chicken
  9. Baked Shrimp with Tomatoes and Feta
Tonight I made several of these, #3, #4 and #5. We're out of town this weekend, so I can't cook too far ahead - some may need to wait until I'm back in town Monday. We'll see!!

Q: What did you do last night - cook anything yummy? I normally don't cook on Mondays, but I was feeling it so why not?!

Q: Male or female pets - have a preference? I've always had boy dogs - she would be my first girl dog!

Aww cute. I want to get a sibling for Murphy, but Jason is against it. :(

I grew up with a girl dog but now I have a boy.

SO cute! I hope it works out!!! All of the cooking sounds great. I want some omelet action in my life. I made some stuffed squash last night- so good! Tonight I'm doing some cabbage experimentation. I am excited! And I always seem to get boy dogs

Those puppies are too darn cute! We are talking about getting some sort of poodle mix for my mother-in-law and are kind of at a loss for good mixes. We have a girl and boy cat now, but honestly this is my first boy pet. They are great cats though. I had an omelet last night since the boys had leftovers! Good stuff.

Such a cute puppy! I would love to get Tucher a brother but at 7 years old and 75 pounds, I don't think that he would like to share with a puppy too much! (Also don't think that Ryan would go with that plan either)! I have heard that a new puppy should be introduced when the other dog is younger than 4 years, so Rueben should be fine! What is her name going to be????

What a cutie! I've only had female cats but grew up with male dogs. I bet they will be great friends.

All the food you will be cooking sounds great!

What a cute face!?! Oh my!! I grew up with dogs but I don't have any dogs now...my kids are scared of them and I have no idea why. It's ok because I really don't want to take care of anything breathing creature. :)

Hello adorable! I love her little face! I've always had boy dogs too. I do think Max will need a girlfriend when Ryan gets back though ;)

She is so cute, I'm sure Reuben will love her! At home we had a boy dog and introduced a girl dog after a few years, and they adore each other & get along great! I only have a boy dog now (cock-a-poo - love the hypoallergenic and sweet personalities) and would love to get him a playmate, but unfortunately need to wait until things settle down for us and not so much traveling around.

We actually cooked your mexican pizza recipe last night and loved it - the TJ's pizza dough was soo good, we're definitely going to try more pizza recipes with it!

We have a male dog, but wish we had a female - he's a black lab, which my husband has always had, and says he wished we had a girl - he's still lovable - even if he's 90 pounds!

Hannah and I routinely go to pet store and play with tiny dogs - we love tiny dogs and that new pup is so fricken cute!

I am actually making a dish called chicken panang - which is a red curry chicken dish - can't wait to see how yours turned out!

I actually made something yummy last night! I hadn't gone to the store, but I had a few frozen chicken breasts, some pesto, feta cheese, a can of green beans and I cooked some rice and added it all together! It was awesome!

Oh my gosh, she's adorable! I want to hug her through my computer screen. Do you & Austin have any names picked out? Honestly I prefer females over males, but maybe I'm biased since I'm a girl? lol

How cute! I prefer females.

I haven't done anything fun...just watching the incredibles.

Oh my gosh! What a cute little puppy. Hubs and I definitely want a dog -- don't care about the sex or the breed. Just want a doggie! Maybe when we move somewhere with a yard.

Last night was low key/recovering from the long weekend. :) A little unpacking, some laundry, and we made grilled cheese sandwiches. They were DELICIOUS!

My Hubby and I are planning on getting a dog soon, too! So excited, she looks absolutely adorable :-)

So sweet! We have had both male and female pets. We have a sheltie right now, and he's a boy. For that breed, most breeders feel that males are better pets - but I don't know!

We just got a maltipoo last week! Your potential pup is adorable...let me know if you end up bringing her home! I would love to talk maltipoo with you ;) Ours is 10 weeks but already 5 lbs. They think she will be anywhere from 10-15 lbs. I wasn't thrilled with that at first, but I'm accepting it. She's a love!
