New Favorite Band, Work Hell, It's The Freaking Weekend

Yes - i'm alive! Barely. Here is what I've been up to. FML

Tuesday: Work, walk 4 miles during lunch whilst reading, worked late until 7 p.m. Got home. Worked more. AWFUL DAY. Too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Wednesday: Work... work through lunch... leave at 5 p.m. and do shower stuff: made 40 cupcake flags, picked up shower photos at Walgreen's, mounted pictures, rolled silverware, made silverware bands, tied ribbons around bands, made signs for food, set up dining room and gift table, etc, got all groceries for shower recipes. Got back to work at 11 p.m. and worked until 2 a.m. FML. Yes, no workouts.

Thursday: Get to work event. Get on uniform and headset. Work event until 5:30. Have drinks at networking event. Network. Leave at 7:30 p.m. Get home at 8 p.m. Where is Austin? At a bar. Go to bar. Have a couple more drinks - why not - i'm clearly not going to sleep this week may as well have a buzz? Get to bed at midnight. Yes, no workouts. You want a picture of me in my Brittany Spears Mic?

One wonderful thing came out of the day, well two: One: the CEO said my name at the annual event. That was really cool. I was like um, did he just recognize my work? SWEET! Two: The talent hired for the event was Straight No Chaser. Ever heard of them? I hadn't. But now i'm in love:

Basically they're a 10-person a capallea group that does AWESOME remakes of songs and fabulous mash ups like Poison with Billy Joel. It's hilarious, amazing and their performance at our event was AWESOME. Check it out - and note that it's AMAZING in person (this is like taken with a handheld) and note that there are NO MUSICAL instruments - they are making the sounds with their voices - LOVE IT.

How's that for a nutshell? I swear the last few days have been a whirlwind - I want to die! But it's all good because my work is (mostly) done and the shower prep is (mostly) done and I can't wait to celebrate baby Dane! And truly, my job is NEVER this crazy. It's like all of my projects aligned and everything had MAJOR deliverables this week on top of my normal, tactical duties as well as the event and with a holiday on Monday it was INSANE. But it's cool. This week is over and I lived so YES.

Q: What do you do when your workouts just can't happen? I've been focused on eating as healthy as possible the last few days, and plan to workout on Saturday and Sunday (cardio Saturday and weights Sunday) to get back on track.

Q: Have you ever heard of Straight No Chaser? I'm officially obsessed with them - wonderful entertainment!

I do the same. I hate not being able to make workouts happen but some times it's just NOT possible. So yes I too really tighten up on what I'm eating. No cheating. :)

And I make myself GIVE myself a break. And say "You'll be back on track in no time." Usually you are!

Josh and I are HUGE a Capella fans!! I've never heard of this group but I will definitely be looking out for more of their stuff.

Did you watch the show "Sing Off" on NBC? It was only 3 weeks in Dec and this was its second season. All acapella groups, super fun and awesome! I'm sure the episodes are still online, you should check it out.

Wow you sound like a busy bee! Kudos for being recognized though ;-) I've had a no-sleep week too. Blaming it on the full moon.

My workouts haven't been happening and eating healthy has gone out the window lately. I think the weather is just bumming me out. I'm SO ready for warmer weather so I can get outside and live it up! I guess all I can say is don't be too hard on yourself!

sorry you had such a sucky week : / since I have two little ones my exercise is limited to 30 mins. a day and sometimes I'm too exhausted to even do that. I tend to focus more on my eating on the days that i know working out is just not happening. I hope you have a great weekend and can get some rest!

I hate missing my workouts. I try to make up for them another day or just eat as healthy as possible.

Glad your crazy week is over. Sometimes losing a day makes the week so long in a way.

Never heard of the band but my college's acapella group was pretty popular so I've always liked that sort of thing.

Geez, that's a lot of stuff crammed into one week.

I hate missing workouts because it feels like I have no time for myself!

I've never heard of "Straight No Chaser." In college, I thought the a capella groups were pretty dorky.

When my workouts can't happen - I get very mad at myself. Then I try to just - like you, stick to eating really healthy to not double the whammy so to speak. It's LIFE. ;-)
