New Quinoa Recipe, 4 Miles, Ricky Gervais, Shower Prep!

Thanks you guys! I like the random facts too!! :) Happy Monday! Mine was a bit of a long day. I didn't sleep well at. all. and therefore woke up tired and crabby to rainy, dreary weather. Lovely! I just worked, walked 4 miles during lunch, worked more and then headed home to work on some stuff for my sister's shower! To clarify: the shower I went to for her last week I was a guest at. This one i'm hosting. It's a couple's shower and it looks like we're at about 30 peeps right now - so fun for the couple! I hope it goes over well - I've always wanted to host a baby shower for my sis! And now to share a recipe I made last week... loved it:
Curried Chicken with Quinoa
Adapted from a Fitness magazine recipe
Makes 4 Servings

Nutritional Information: 420 calories, 52 carbs, 8 fat grams and 35 protein grams.

After making a few things for the baby shower (i.e. making cupcake flags, favor tags and Menu signs) I just read and hung out with the pups (Reuben got a haircut and little Remy got spay today.... poor baby - more on her and her hopefully quick recovery tomorrow!). One thing we did watch, to end on a funny note, is clips of Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes. I'm sorry, mean-spirited perhaps but funny nonetheless - this many cracks. me. up. Check it out if you haven't already:

Q: Do you like Ricky Gervais? Who is your favorite comedian? He is so wrong he's right - I love it. I'm a huge fan of him, Ron White and Lewis Black. Many others too - but they're at the top!

Q: What's your favorite grain? I can honestly say mine is rice. It's just the bomb. HOWEVER, quinoa is so dang good. I wish there was microwavable quinoa for the lazy lady like me. Is there? Must google...

I've never tried quinoa, but I keep hearing about it's benefits. Do you find it in the grocery store near the rice section?

I love the idea of couples showers! I'm not much for the owing and awing of traditional showers.

I thought he was HILARIOUS at the GG!! Hollywood celebs should get a sense of humor and not take themselves so seriously!

Great looking recipe, too!!

I just bought some sort of frozen quinoa mix at TJ's. I haven't tried it yet, but that's pretty easy.

I don't like stand up comedy. I know, I know. I'm weird.

"It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking. Or as Charlie Sheen calls it: breakfast." - I too thought Ricky was hilarious. People need to lighten up!

I'm going to have to check out that recipe. I'm sure I can sub tofu or tempeh for the chicken. I love quinoa (prefer the red). I also love wheat berries - they have such great texture.

I am loving quinoa right now. It's got such a fun texture.

I like Ricky Gervais, but felt like his jokes at the Globes were pretty awkward. Funny, but awkward.

I LOVE Kathy Griffen. She's my favorite.

I think Ricky Gervais is okay sometimes. I am not a huge fan of him. I think he can be offensive.

My favorite grains are couscous and quinoa! Yum!

I only saw snippets of the Golden Globes, but I think Ricky Gervais is hilarious!

Rice is my favorite too - although I need to cook up some quinoa!

I love quinoa and Cous Cous :-)

Ive started pre-cooking using your techniques and its made life so much easier. My husband commutes 2.5 hours each way to Sydney every day so we dont eat at the same times and I need to have healthy food at reach when he gets home.

I work full time also (with a short commute) but fit in regular gym sessions weekday evenings and I am now training for half marathon. I fit so much into my week now because of you!

Mmm I would say mine is either brown rice or noodles- not as much pasta (though I'm Italian), but the noodles for Thai food. :)

Wait a sec- are pancakes at all considered a real grain? If so then OBVIOUSLY them!

Hmm, favorite grain ... I think I'd have to go with rice too! Brown rice to be exact. I always have a stash in the freezer already cooked although I love quinoa too!

Yummy. I love Quinoa and will try your recipe tonight. This week, I made a Quinoa Mac and Cheese dish - to die for. I think YOU would love it! http://cuceesprouts.com/2011/01/quinoa-mac-and-cheese-with-spinach/

I really liked Ricky Gervais. I think he did exactly what the award show peeps wanted him to do, regardless of what they say. I think they were hoping for "edgy." I mean this is the age of Lady Gaga - you have to push the envelope to get any kind of attention.

My favorite comedian...I'm IN LOVE with John Stewart. No lie. If he called to ask me to run away with him today, I would. : )
