July Weight

July Calories, Fat Grams, Carbs and Protein

So i'm doing pretty good on weight and protein as far as staying consistent. Fat isn't bad either. However... carbs and calories are all over the place. This month i'm going to continue working on tracking BEFOREHAND and STICKING WITH IT. I can do it if I plan it! (that's what I always say!) :)

A Look Back: July Goals

1. Keep calories around 1,700 5 days/week. Um, not even kind of! I’m starting to think this is unrealistic for me during the week because I need more once you factor in exercise, and on the weekend once you factor in alcohol. So… I’m saying Keep calories under 1,850 on days when I work out and 2,300 when I drink (1 day a week; 2 at most).
2. Walk 100 miles. DONE I felt great getting in all of these miles, but I want to cut it back some for August to make SURE not matter what I do my strength training.
3. Do strength training 3 days/week. DONE I’m going to say not totally done, but I did get it in regularly the last half AND I developed a detailed plan that I’m pretty pumped about.
4. Introduce 10 new recipes. DONE I actually ended up making…TWENTY SEVEN. Oh my…. I knew I was on a roll but dang – how exciting! Out of the 27, two were fails. Sad. But still, that’s 25 new recipes that we’re fans of – everything from Pesto Chicken Rolls to Herbed Greek Chicken Salad.

5. Update the home blog 4 days/week AND fitting back in 4 days/week. The home blog was a fail. For sure – there’s just not enough to say! Fittingbackin I was ALL OVER – woo – ending up at 25 posts. Yay! I’m going to say DONE.
6. Read 3 books. DONE I read 3 Karin Slaughter books – Blindsighted, Kisscut and Indelible. ALL AMAZING. I’m obsessed with her books – they’re just amazing mysteries. Love, love them!
7. Get dining room painted; hang fan in guest room; install lights in hallway upstairs. We got the fan done – but the lights and dining room are all for August!

8. Get an HRM. DONE Thanks to my awesome husband Austin who got me a Polar F7 for my birthday!! I just love it. Words can’t describe. hehe

9. Research CFW ideas. This didn’t happen (probably because I was so dang busy worrying about cooking 27 recipes haha). So I’m ON IT… in September. I’m just not focused here!
10. Take measurements every Thursday! This just doesn’t work – I don’t THINK about it! So I think I’m going to shoot for once a month – the DAY I do my assessment I must measure.

A Look Ahead: August Goals

1. Keep calories under 1,850 on days when I work out and 2,300 when I drink (1 day a week; 2 at most).
2. Walk 84 miles (I’m back on track – no need for 100!)
3. Do strength training 3 days/week.
4. Do abs 3 days/week.
5. Decide whether or not to hire the trainer.
6. Introduce 10 new recipes.
7. Update the home blog 2 days/week AND fitting back in 5 days/week.
8. Read 2 books.
9. Get dining room painted; install lights in hallway upstairs.
10. Develop 2 new weeks of Strength Training Routines.

What are your goals this month? I’m excited – but only have 21 days left to do this stuff – eek! I should make a goal to assess August on September 1 instead of September 10! Hehe. I’ll post Saturday and Sunday tomorrow morning – woo!

Great job with your goals! 27 new recipes??? You are amazing! And you follow the recipes - I should learn from that... ;)

I love that you take the time to evaluate what worked and what didn't work so well and that you make adjustments. I think that's something many people (including me at times!) don't do.

I have weekly exercise goals that I evaluate at the end of each week, and that's been working pretty well for me. My biggest goal this month is to get to bed no later than 10:30. I'm not doing so well on that one so far...

I just love how goal oriented you are. You are really one of the few "maintenance" girls out there and you do it so well. What was your calorie count when you were losing? How did you adjust it to maintain?

I've started using Spark People to help me with my goals. Isn't that what you use? Sorry for all the questions! I feel really motivated to set some goals now :)

You are so incredibily organized with your goals! I bet it makes it so much easier to reflect on everything. I tend to focus on the negative but when you see all you accomplished right there in front of you I bet it helps :)

Inmytummy: Thanks, girl! I love it... about to post now!

Andrea: I know... I had NO IDEA until i counted up - eek! I try to - I just find it helps me stay focused and setting new goals is fun, even if it's a little late than you wanted to do it.. :)

Mica: I know, right?! I was kind of thrown... August definitely won't be as aggressive on that front!

Thinspired: Thanks, girl! Aw… loves! My calorie count was much less, I’d say the “high” was 1,550. Now, it’s 1,850 – I definitely had to up it, especially with the increased walking. It’s still a balancing act but I’m working on it! Yes – I love Spark People!! We’ll have to be Spark Friends, too – it’s such a great program and really helps me stay on it.

Dailygoods: How did I get started?! I don’t know… I think I just knew that I had to list things out and it started with things that I thought were “easy” to track – goals around weight (numbers), calorie intake (numbers), days worked out, miles walked, etc. I just looked at what I was doing vs. what I COULD be doing, and started there. And they cover the things I love: exercise, nutrition, reading, doing stuff around the house, etc. I’m going to start adding more personal goals to get me moving (i.e. do 2 scrapbook pages a week, get a pedicure once a month) – things that I’m not doing that I want to be doing! Hope this makes sense!

Therese: I think Spark People makes it easy – and the blog – I keep up with it each day so at the end of the month it’s just adding it up! It DOES – you can’t/won’t/don’t get it all done, but look what you did! Then it shows you the focus for next month and I think it helps make things become a habit!

Emily: Thanks, Emily!! You got it – posting shortly!

CarrieLidzy: Hi!! I will!! Hope to see you back soon!

Pam: Best of luck to you!! As long as you keep cooking we’re good. :) haha

Erica: Thanks, girl! I love tracking – even when it gets annoying I know it’s worth it! I HAVE – I just love it – I’m so glad I found all of these blogs to see “real people’s” recipes! I know… I’m getting upset just talking about it…. what do you whole foods eating girls do in the winter?!
