Shoe Chat, 3 Miles, Back/Biceps, New Camera and Fun Night!

Have you guys seen this commercial?

I am interested as I am:

A. In need of new shoes.
B. A walker and the commercial specifically mentions walking.
C. An owner of a kinda lumpy bum.
D. A total sucker for sh*t like this.

So what do you guys think? Think it's a total sham? Have a better recommendation on the shoe front for a girl who walks an average of 80 miles a month on a treadmill on the outside of her feet and does strength training?

I read some reviews.... it seems mixed??

I saw a cute video review that basically boiled down to:
Pros: comfy; they might actually work; great if you don't care what other people think because...
Cons: $110; ugly... shiny silver bullets. hehe

So I don't know! Knowing me i'll go out and buy the EXACT same pair I have now (but with new tread on the outside thankyouverymuch).

How often do you replace your shoes?
What's your current shoe - do you love it?!

Right now I have the Nike Women's Pegasus. I bought them for $90... they're on sale for $50!!

Perhaps I'll just get two more pairs of these little friends and save cash instead of the Reebok?!

Moving on for a quick recap! Yesterday I:
  • Woke up feeling wonderful at 8 a.m.
  • Hung out with Austin/blogged/had cheerios
  • Had a chips/salsa/FF sour cream snack
  • Headed to the gym - walked 2 miles + ran 1 mile + back + biceps
  • Showered and went out for a baby shower gift, birthday gift, get well gift and a new camera!!!
  • Had some of the tea Em got me - thanks again, sweet girl!
  • Headed to Buckhead for a birthday party - good to see Andrew/Laura Anne/Monica/Andy/etc.!!
  • Headed to Stacy and Shane's house (with Reuben in tow) for a night out in Smyrna/Vinings. We had such a blast! And it was GREAT to see all of the awesome work they had done on their house. WOW. I'm so motivated to do more on ours now - she has awesome taste and ideas!!
  • Ended up at 2,388 calories, 41 fat grams, 237 carbs and 93 protein grams. Here's what I ate. (drank too much.... :( Also had late night pizza - put it on Sunday's day).
And here's the new camera!!

I love it! It's a very simple, easy-to-use Kodak EasyShare with 10 megapixels! It came down to this one and a Sony Cybershot, but the Sony had bells and whistles I simply wouldn't use (i.e. comprehensive video capabilities) - so this one won! It seemed as though it was only available online, but they had it at Radio Shack but only in red. I ran with it - it matches my washer/dryer - I heart red gadgets!! I've only used it a few times but I love it!!

Today we woke up, left Stacy/Shane's (spent the night with them!), raced home, ate breakfast, showered and headed up to Cumming for Austin's cousin Katie's baby shower! It was nice to visit with her and all of the family (grandparents/aunts/uncles you name it!). Austin's parents also drove over from Alabama and came by the house to visit, see some of the new stuff and to bring us some shelving units for the garage- sweet! I've been slowcooking spaghetti all day too - exciting!! Hope it turns out. I haven't updated spark people but it's going to be very high with the pizza + shower food factored in... we shall see!

I hope you all had wonderful weekends! I really enjoyed mine!!

I am pretty intrigued by the shoes too...but I think the commercials are kinda odd in that they seem like they are marketing to men? Like overtly sexual...

I don't know maybe I'm weird lol! I'm mostly a Nike fan too. I went with a pair of Asics when I took up running more consistently but for sprinting, walking, weight lifting and basically everything else I do, you can't beat Nike!

I am awful about getting new shoes when I should!

Love the new camera - mine is blue, my favorite color! :D

Glad you had a great weekend!

I actually posted a review on those shoes! I love them!

I cannot give advice on buying a new pair of sneakers. I am still working out in the sneakers I ran the half marathon in last year. I like to think I am sentimental, lol.

I love how you noted that the camera matches your washer/dryer.

Maybe the shoes are worth a shot. They're not nearly as ugly as those MBT walking shoes. (I think that's the brand, the one that's called The Anti-Shoe).

I saw on E! news where they asked a trainer about those shoes and he said they were full of crap. Who knows?! I haven't gotten new running shoes since the summer before last - so embarrassing! I need to ask Santa for a new pair - or maybe just bite the bullet and go ahead and get some now so I don't risk any injuries!!

So glad that you had such a nice weekend and VERY glad you are enjoying your tea!! :) Makes me happy!!

You are too funny about your red gadgets! ;) How fun to get a new camera!! How's the iPhone situation?? When do you think you'll get it replaced! I still feel bad that I'm the one who murdered it!! :(

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening!

That commercial kind of bugs me actually... but I have to say I'm sort of intrigued. The thing is, though, I feel like anytime of walking/running regularly helps the tush area.. If you try them, let us know if they're for real!

You just reminded me that I need new shoes! :)

I haven't seen the commercial but read about the shoes a while back. I'm skeptical but also curious...

Have a good week!

Those shoes are a crock. If you are walking then that's what's working. If someone who is overweight THINKS these will work and that will make them go out for a walk then good. I think people will buy these thinking they won't have to workout now.

I have ASICS GEL GT2140 and I hate them. They give me blisters. It's Brooks all the way!!!! Love those!!

Therese: Me too! Haha I agree- they're CLEARLY for women and it's cute that the guy is such a voyeur but come on! 3 times?! Really? haha

I don't think you're weird! Awesome, thanks for the rec!

Biz319: me too! But i'm really trying to do it this time, especially since I can SEE the tread is practically gone. I'm all about the tangible! Thanks!!

April: haha I'll have to check your blog!!

Dawn: awww I know what you mean!! good for you!

Inmytummy: It hit me in the store! Austin was like you don't want red do you? And I was like the w/d are red! And he was like you are so freaking random. haha True that! I heard those weren't cute!

Homecookedem: Interesting! I'll look up that review on YouTube! I know what you mean! I'm just worried with my feet problem that it's something I need to be no top of. :(

I AM! I even brought a pack to work since it has the boiling water on the coffee machine you know? I'm pretty pumped - it's like a little happy treat and it tastes so yummy!

Oh it's fine! We talked to our insurance guy/friend Andy on Saturday and he's going to let us know today how long it will be. In the meantime, this one is working like a charm! (just looks like a spider web hehe). I murdered it - I threw it under your tires - who does that?!

Joelle: I hear you! I'm 50/50 on it - I might go at least try them on and see what's up. I'll def report back!

Andrea: Skeptical but curious - EXACTLY! You too!!

Redhead75: Thanks for the advice and for the shoe rec! You know what got me? A review that someone stepped on a tack and it burst the shoe and that was the end- Reebok wouldn't take them back - eek!

I think the shoes sound gimmicky, and I was, like Therese, turned off by the commercial.

I'm not sure if they're stability shoes or neutral shoes, but it's usually good (especially for how much walking you do!) to get your gait checked. If you're a pronator and you're put in a neutral cushioning shoe, it could wreak havoc on your knees and shins. That said, the Nike Pegasus is a neutral shoe (though a sturdier one than most), and you seem to be doing fine in it.

Okay, enough shoe talk. I'm out-ing myself a dork.

I think the shoes would be a big waste of money...at least on the the toning up your legs and bum front!!

I wish I could give insight about the shoes but I am new to athletics and athletic apparel :)
Congratulations on your pretty camera! It looks like a great choice!

My sister totally said, 'Did you hear that?' when the commercial played. It was funny and I know what you mean though, I am a sucker for good marketing too. I have a pair of purple/silver Nike Shox and I love them. I use the elliptical and do strength training mostly.

Let us know if you go for them and I like that all your gadgets are red--cute!

I've seen those commercials but don't know if I believe them 100%. I have a pair of Nike Run Relax (?) that I just love. In fact I bought three pair because I wanted to have them for a while. They always seem to change the brands around!

Love the new camera. I watched that commercial but didn't believe it. Very funny though.

Ok so that girl in the commercial has no butt. So...I don't get it! My current shoe obsession is Ryka's! They are fabulous. Sounds like a really fun weekend. I hope your Monday is treating you well!

Stick with Nike! I have the same sneakers as you (in yellow) and love them as well.

I had a couple of friends get MBT's right after graduation (in hopes of losing the extra college lbs, haha!) and they ended up being a waste of money. I think the shoes have gotten cuter - they used to be bulky and only come in nasty colors - but it seems like a scam!

Kinda late to the party here but I JUST found your blog!

I have two pairs of MBTs and love them! I wear the cute mary janes to work every night and have a pair of sneakers for walking. I also have a BodyBugg and have checked the calorie burn with them on and with normal sneakers and there IS an increase ... and a definite calf/thigh/butt burn!
