C25k Workout #2, Blogger Award, 7 Facts

Ahhh – you guys rock! Thanks for the tips, ideas, iPhone apps, etc. – I am really pumped about this and just feel like I’m doing it right, you know? Slow and steady! Thanks for your support – I hope I can do it!

So how was your day? Mine was pretty good, especially for a Tuesday. I slept WONDERFULLY. Like the kind of sleep where you wake up feeling well rested and realize you still have 45 minutes to sleep. Nicccceeee. I got to stay home in the a.m. before heading to an offsite at 9 a.m. – nice! Then I drove in for another meeting and then it was lunch – time to hit the gym! Me and Stacy walked 4 miles at 4.0 – burning 186 calories. Then I worked more and had a pretty busy afternoon! After work it was time to do Week 1: Workout 2 of Couch to 5K!! But this time I wore the HRM! The 20-minute workout, not including warm up or cool down, burned 98 calories! I burned a total of 122 calories in 2.25 miles (the workout is about 1.77 miles). Afterwards, we did triceps and shoulders, and I ended up burning a total of 193 calories – great workout! When I got home I just couldn’t bring myself to eat dinner. Instead I REALLY wanted more guacamole. So against my better judgment, I made a dinner out of guac, chips, bread and butter. What? Oh well – I didn’t overeat and I feel great, but I’m sure I’m going to regret not getting that protein tomorrow!

Speaking of protein – do you have a goal you try to hit each day? Sparkpeople suggested between 60 and 127 for me. Wide range, right?

And back to running – is there a stretch you like to do? How long do you stretch before and after?

Thanks friends! And oh, just realized I haven’t posted yesterday’s stats: 1,703 calories, 210 carbs, 70 fat grams and 75 protein grams. Not bad – here’s what I ate! With a total burn of about 200 calories that took me to a net of 1,503.

One more thing - I feel like a lucky lady! I’ve been given the beautiful blogger award by Emily at Homecookedem and by Merdith of Balance for MEre.

I’ve always felt like I had a lot in common with these lovely ladies and so enjoy following their blogs. Check out their 2010 goals – these girls are going to rock it! I especially like Emily’s goal of sending more thank you/get well/congrats/thinking of you notes to family and friends. I think about it, but rarely follow through and love this goal. Also, Meredith’s goal of “create a recipe” – eek! I copy so much I’d be scared but love the idea, and her goal of 1,000 miles – woo! Go girl!

So I’m to give 7 Facts about Me! Here goes…

1. I love filling my time. I really do – hobbies make me happy. I wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t get so much happiness and satisfaction from reading, taking photos, scrapbooking, cooking, working out, etc.
2. I have a huge mouth. Huge. I can fit my fist in my mouth. Easily.
3. While I LOVE being surrounded by people and HATE being alone, I can be a bit of a hermit crab. I would be perfectly content if I never had to leave the house. Seriously!
4. I am obsessed with Reuben and have been talking a lot about getting another pupper. However, Austin says Reuben is perfect (and I agree!) so we shouldn’t rock the boat. We’ll see – I think we could use more shih poo in our lives!
5. Lately me and Austin have been talking about babies. We’re not ready yet, but we do think we want to have children one day. This is exciting. And scary!
6. I LOVE Ikea. Like, I walk into that store and feel SO inspired. I love Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and many others, too, but nothing makes me happier than those genius Scandinavians and their adorable décor.
7. I am SERIOUSLY interested in making my own clothes. Specifically skirts. I want a sewing machine, patterns and lessons. I think I may do this in 2010…

This was hard to do! I couldn’t remember what I’d already told you all. :) Now to give this beautiful blogger award out to 7 fellow bloggers– here goes!!

So what are you doing tonight? Me and Reuben are in bed watching 27 Dresses… again. It’s Reuben’s favorite. I’m also doing laundry. I know – I’m a wild one.

Awww you look so cute in your little workout gear!! :-)

As for protein- I try to get about 130 i not higher- I know- that's extremely high, but my trainer put me on that diet plan last year and I saw great results. Usually I'm slightly just over 100, so...yeah.... lol

Haha, I think you need to take a picture of your fist in your mouth. That is totally cracking me up!

I don't really aim for a certain protein goal each day. I eat a lot of things that contain a good amount of protein, so I just assume I'm okay.

I do like 8 different leg stretches after I run. Except when I'm being lazy and just want to get home. Then I do none. Just basically for each part of my legs. I don't know how to describe them.

Could you be cuter at the gym? I always look like a sweaty beast!

As for protein, I just try to eat some at every meal but I am so not a big meat, fish, or chicken eater so that's hard. However, if I don't get enough protein, I end up ravenous the next day!

Thanks for the award!

So funny because my dinner was guac, cheese, and toast tonight! My grandma gave me one of her avocados while I was at her house over the weekend and I've been trying to make it last as long as possible... so good!! Also, when I got my facial a couple weekends ago, the lady doing it told me that avocados are one of the best things to eat for your skin. YAY for that!!

You look adorable in your workout clothes!! Nice job on all the workouts!! I don't stretch before running, but always after. I try and stretch my hamstrings, quads, and calves, but MOST importantly my IT bands. Those can get very tight and will actually cause my knees to hurt. You can google some good stretches for that... I'm not very good at explaining it unless I'm actually showing, lol! ;)

Reuben is a HUGE Katherine Heigl fan. I think it's because of her charity work with dogs. :)

Y'all: she is NOT lying about the ability to put her fist in her mouth.

Seeing it is a real treat, let me tell ya! ;-)

YAY!!!!! to babies!!!!!!!!! :)

p.s. although you look around 12 years old in that picture. hee hee!

well first of all, thank you for reminding me that i needed to put my laundry in the dryer! haha

and second of all..as far as protein goes....when im not trying to build i just go for my weigh in pounds. so if you weigh 120..120 grams of protein, etc.
hope that helps!

I agree with everyone, you are adorable in your workout wear! So I have a gym at my work too, do you shower after your lunch workouts or just go back to work? I'm curious... Love your blog!

I think the amount of protein you need daily varies on what you're doing that day. On my long run days (Saturday will be 14 miles in the hills of Buckhead), I tend to eat less protein. I don't have a specific gram goal daily, but I tend to adjust by what I'm doing.

C25K is a great program. Looking forward to watching your progress through it!

Great job with the C25K!

Am I the only one that thinks your calorie burn seems kinda low? Meaning, I think you are burning more than your heart rate monitor shows. 4 miles and only 186 calories? And RUNNING only burned 98 calories?

Maybe its because you are a lot smaller than me :)

We are talking babies too. Start the folic acid now :)

Love the workout pic.

I have the opposite problem...small mouth...it sends my dentist into a tizzy every time I visit.

I really should eat more protein but most of the time I'm lucky if I find time to eat at all!!

I have a large mouth and I love Ikea too! Thanks for passing this on to me.

I think every person have different protein requirements! Just as long as you don't eat too much, which is actually more dangerous than eating too little. I myself thrive on lower amounts of protein and higher amounts of carbs.

no fair! I don't look that cute in the gym! ;-)

Cute photo! :)

And I loved learning 7 things about you...

I don't keep track of how much protein I eat, but I try to be more conscious. Since I eat very little meat, I sometimes feel I have to make more of an effort. I should actually probably keep track of it for a few weeks, just to get a better idea...

Thank you so much for the award! :)

Hi, I just entered this whole blogging world. It was fun reading your blog, is there a particular reason why you are trying to burn off weight? You already look perfect.

Ooops. Missed that crucial little caption at the top. Sorry it is 5:30 in the morning :) lol.

Great job on the workouts. Isn't having a HRM the best? I really think it pushes me to work extra hard. I love guac. I need to make some or pick up some holy gucamole. My goal for protein each day is at least 60. Hope your Wednesday is just as good as your Tuesday!

I am pretty obsessed with my HRM. It's a really great motivating tool for me!

I find I am a lot more satisfied and don't reach for as many empty carbs. I don't really aim for a specific number, but usually end up around 150+. Sounds like a lot but it works for me.

making your own clothes that would be AWESOME! then you could sell them to ME :) I would love to see what you create!

you look so cute in your gym clothes :)

as for protein, I am for about 140, but I dont count everything that goes into my body so some days a little more, some days less

LOVE 27 dresses! cry at the end everytime!

Yay! Thanks for the award. I did it in my post today!

I try to aim for 1 gram of protein per lb.

I also try to incorporate protein in each meal.

Thank you for the award! I enjoyed reading your seven facts, especially that you can fit your fist in your mouth.(I didn't realize that you had a big mouth from your photos, but now that you say it, I notice that you have a HUGE SMILE. It's really charming!)

I'm such a slacker when it comes to getting enough protein...I think I like my carbs too much. ;) When I drink a protein shake after a workout I can get to 100 grams, but no protein shake = low protein counts.

Awesome that you are starting a couch to 5k! You look great, btw. Very toned and fit!
Not sure about protein, either. I have a wide range as well...I think it's the sort of thing where everyone has a different opinion on it, even the experts. I would say to play around and see what works best for you :)
