I’m driving to work this a.m. eating yogurt listening to Lipstick Jungle. I’m at the light to get on 400S (major highway) – it’s green and I’m going fast. Then it’s yellow- eek! Gotta go though - I can’t stop now! Woop woop! I’m pulled over.
For the record, I’ve never been pulled over in Atlanta. I've lived here for four years this month. I’ve also never had a ticket… stick. So I’m like shhhiiizzzz. I’m going to be late... and it's going to be pricey! Here’s how it went:
- He’s at my door by the time I’ve put the yogurt down and reached for my purse.
- He gets my license and walks away.
- Two minutes later he’s like, “Miss, we have lots of problems here. Your license address is incorrect. You’re supposed to change it within 60 days of moving. We have your move at April 2009. Also, you have a light out.”
- I’m like, “oh… I thought it was a year! I’m so sorry and embarrassed… And yes, I have an appointment with a collision place to get the light fixed (did I tell you guys I backed into something a couple of weeks ago?). Anyway...
- He’s like, “Aside from the address and the light, you ran that light. Where are you trying to go? Look at 400 – I don’t want you t-boned out there to go sit in this traffic.” Then he was like, “be careful out there and I don’t want to see you again.”
- And he’s gone… I’m waiting for him to write me up. then he flashes his lights and tells me to go and we get back on 400 together.
Crazy Thing #2
My bro-in-law Zach had a photo shoot this weekend that I was really looking forward to seeing. Basically, the guy reached out to him and wanted him to photograph his proposal to his girlfriend. How sweet and top on top of things is this guy?! Zach posted pics to his blog last night and I’m looking through this morning and I’m like cute... love it... OMG I know that kid! It was this guy Ben from college, one of Austin’s fraternity brothers. SUCH a small world! Check out the blog – too funny! I’m going to add Zach’s photo button to my sidebar to link to his blog. While he’s not a fitness/food/fashion blog like most of you girls, I’m loving his photo updates!!
Other than all of that excitement, it was a pretty standard day. Had the aforementioned yogurt and a cream cheese muffin for breakfast, had 2 crackers and 2 pieces of cheese for a snack, walked 4 miles during my lunch break with Stacy burning 189 calories, had beef enchilada casserole for lunch, had too many sweets (2 mini reese’s cups and 2 mini snickers), had my diet pepsi, and then did C25K Week 1 Workout 3. Basically, me and Stacy are going to take it slow and do FIVE workouts in TWO weeks for each week (instead of THREE workouts in week 1, then moving up). Both of us feel more comfortable easing into it, so wish us luck! I don't know if I was just working harder because I hadn't ran since last Tuesday or what by my heart was PUMPING and I was pouring sweat! HRM read 143 calories (including 5 minute warm up and 3 minute cool down) in 28 minutes with an avg heartrate of 149 (high: 182) for 2.25 miles. After our workout I headed home to the family – yessss. We had avocado chicken wraps. Fab. Then I had a 1/4 of a kit kat bar (one stick!). Now i'm cuddled in bed post-shower and you guys - I'M SO SORE from that exercise TV. OMG...my legs are like I hate you. I hate you with a passion!
What helps you out when you're so sore walking, bending, sitting down, etc. hurts?
Have you ever gotten a police warning? I truly didn't think those existed anymore and honestly VERY much expected a ticket.
P.S. Thank you all for you wondermous Vegas suggestions. I'm working on booking things/making plans. I should have at least one exciting update tomorrow!
P.S.S. Love your exercise TV thoughts! I honestly thought they were crap before but LOVE that I have an HRM and can really gauge that way. What did I do without it? I believe someone asked - I have a Polar F7 That Austin bought at REI online!!

That is awesome that you escaped the ticket! And also thanks for passing along the info about changing your address within 60 days...did not know that!
Curious to know how you are liking "The Last Time They Met." I tried to read that a while back and couldn't get into it. Should I try again?
Hello! Could you be any luckier!? I'm so jealous; I got a ticket about a year ago and I even tried to cry my way out of it!
I have never gotten a warning.... only a ticket! South Carolina police deparment did NOT like me! it was my first year I moved here :-( I wish I had your cop :-)
Awww, that proposal looks so sweet!! It reminds me so much of when Andrew proposed to me. We were walking in a park walking our 2 dogs too!! Though there was no photogs to document the event... oh well, haha!
Is that a real picture of the cop coming to talk to you?
I've never gotten out of a ticket. I've tried to cry, it didn't work.
Kelly Elizabeth Shaw!!!!
You are the luckiest person when it comes to tickets/not getting them!! LOL
PLEASE be careful!
xo
Mom
When this happened to me (I was late picking up my daughter) I got a big fat ticket and a personal police escort to see if I was telling the truth about being late.
You are so lucky :)
icing helps with pain, and excessive amounts of ibuprofen and tiger balm!
im always a passenger when we get pulled over. one time i freaked out because the cop saw my friends fake ID and handcuffed him and everything...i did not want to get stranded in middle america with no one to drive me home!
How sweet to have the engagement photographed. That is so special. I'll have to check out the photography website!
I've never been pulled over by the police but I have been caught on mobile police camera in the UK TWICE! I got 6 points on my licence and two fines! Luckily they are expired now! Be careful on those roads! I'm sure 'eat yoghurt while driving' isn't on the highway code?!
I got pulled over when I was 16 for speeding, but my birthday was the next day so I played that card. No ticket - just a warning. Somehow I was still scared that my parents would know about it so I told them about the warning. They laughed.
How the heck do you only eat one stick of a kit kat bar?? I would have devoured the whole thing! I'm drooling just thinking about it.
I've never been pulled over. How great that he let you go! :)
Have fun planning your Vegas trip! :)
Ditto what your mom said! LOL! BTW - I told my husband about your trip to Vegas and he said: "Don't send her to Fremont Street - that's where all the pervs are!" OK. I did not realize that. So - I take back what I said about Fremont Street. But we both agreed that if you want some retro Vegas experience, go to the Flamingo Hilton. I've stayed there. It's nice. Awesome pool, too!
ooo close call. it goes to show how it really does matter what city/ state you're in. When we lived in brooklyn, we used to get stopped for things we didn't even do and lost in court. Now we live in New Jersey and we've gotten pulled over a few times for minor things and the police men always let us go with just a warning. it's easy to get confused while driving around here and they take pity on our poor clueless souls.. :-)
Have a great day!!
You should have bought a lotto ticket because that is some serious luck! Gah it is the scariest thing to see those lights come up behind you...eek!
Ok first, you are totally lucky about the lack of ticket, that is awesome! I totally would've gotten myself into trouble somehow and gotten a ticket. ;) Also - I saw your comment about ExerciseTV, if you're looking for some at-home workout options, seriously look for some Cathe Friedrich workouts, they are KILLER, the best workouts ever. I could go on and on...if you have FitTV (Comcast carries it not sure who else does), some of her older stuff on there but her newer stuff is my OBSESSION!
Yay for missing that ticket!
Oh, I hate getting pulled over- last time I got a warning also- so happy that you didn't get a ticket!
Oh, and yeah that book was fabulous- you should get it, I loved it! :)
Crazy Thing #3: After reading this post yesterday, I go to Costco today and get pulled over by a cop for the very first time! Agh! The good news though is that I didn't get the ticket! Woo hoo!
You are one lucky lady! I hate seeing people get pulled over because I know how it feels. I am glad you got out of it.
And to answer your question for the DVD No More Trouble Zones you only need a mat and light hand weights.
Yay for missing that ticket!
