8 Miles, Bedroom Switcharoo, New Book: Impossible

Hola! Thanks for the book recs- I have The Help on hold at the library - it's definitely on my must-read list, and so is that Sookie Stackhouse series! :) Also, the 19th Wife is now on there and I LOVE Jennifer Weiner so I'll have to check that out - THANKS! Happy Wednesdays! Hope you're all having good days! Backing up to yesterday. It was pretty much just work, 4-mile walk during lunch, more work and then another 35-minute run after work. This time, I started running at 6.3 mph right when the treadmill started and didn't stop until I go to 35. This got me to 3.67 miles straight. WOO! Seeing that made me know if I had to I could run 4 miles straight if someone was chasing me... at a lower speed. hehe After stopping and taking a picture like the big freak best blogger ever that I am, I hopped back on for .33 miles of walking at 4.0 mph, to take my total after work to 4 miles, or 8 miles for the day. Great workout!

After that I stretched then headed home for spicy spaghetti pie, a Veronica Mars with the family and recipe organization in bed with little Reuben. Wonderful evening! I also read a bit of the new book - Nancy Werlin's Impossible. So far, i'm following the life of Lucy, a 17-year-old foster child who is happy and healthy, but is plagued by her strange birth mother's appearances and some incidents at the prom... and there's something dark magic/mischievous going on - love it so far, but only on page 125! I ended the night at 1,734 calories, 224 carbs, 57 fat grams and 80 protein grams. Here's what I ate.

Also, I've been meaning to post our bedroom switcharoo! I know I mentioned that we switched up our bedroom from chocolate/cranberry to chocolate/green. Here's the new pics! (the green came from our guest room and the cranberry moved to our upstairs den which used to be blue, but now Austin's home office is blue). :)

Basically - we just got two new nighstands, added the green bedding, added some pillows from other rooms, a bit of new art and some green accents!
Austin wanted the closed-off Pottery Barn nightstand
I wanted open shelving - although I need to work a bit more to keep it clean!

Random shot - and poor Reuben has given up! LOL
New art and some new green accents

Here are some before shots:

gotta love nightstand shopping - only took me a year! haha

So much darker before - and we ultimately had to toss the moss A and K from our wedding - they died!

Still love the red- but really like the lighter colors now!

Hope you like the changes we made! The great thing is we can always go back - stuff is just shuffled all over the house. I could see going darker in the winter!

Q: So I'm kind of done with C25K as far as getting to where 30 minutes is pretty cozy - any suggestions for another running plan that involves a bit longer distances?

Q: Do you switch up rooms in your house a good bit? Or do you prefer keeping them the same?

Congrats on the running sweetie! That's fab. From my experience, you can do several things: increase speed and do the same distance. OR keep increasing the distance. Doing that you can really get to any distance you want. For my 13.1, I just increased mileage every week on my "long run" days. But you could do half mile increments if your more comfortable with that. For the distance, I'd keep the same pace or alternate paces. That's what I do. I run one-tenth of a mile at 7.0 mph then one at 7.5 then one at 8.0. Trying to get that 8 min mile!

Love the room! Question, where did you get the piece your TV sits on? I love it!

Love the softness of the greens in the room! Changes it so much! One suggestion...it looks like the green art/tree painting is larger than the piece before and because of this, I would switch which side of the TV the plant/vase is on. It looks a little crowded on the left side now, but think it would balance out perfect if you took the decor and swapped sides. Just a thought!

New bedroom looks so inviting! We only have three rooms really since we're still rocking the apartment life. We don't do much changing except for when we move. We're planning to try and stay in our current place for another year or two, so maybe we'll change things up a little a few months down the road. (Hello Christmas Presents?!)

For Running Plans, Hal Higdon (I think that's who it is) who created C25K also has a 10k plan (which assumes you can run 30 minutes). You may wanna check that out. This post kinda makes me want to get back into running -- the heat has totally killed my motivation lately.

Your room looks beautiful!! Haha, I had to laugh because your "before" nightstand is exactly what our "now" end tables are in our living room, haha! ;) I wonder how many more years before we finally get nice ones!! ;)

I love the color scheme that you have going on right now. I love earthy tones.

I do change some decor in the house depending on seasons, it's simple as changing the pillow covers.

Are you interested in training for 10K?

I reaaaally love the new lighter colors, definitely!

Like the poster above said, Hal Higdon makes great training run charts. I'm using his for my 10 miler training- and love it!

This week I was supposed to have a long run of 6 miles, but my cold got the better of me :-( Which I really hate, and it sets me back I feel.

Loving the green in there! I like to move stuff around too. It's free and it keeps things fresh.

Girl!! So fun that you are getting into the running too. Were you running before and I didn't realize it? I can't do 6mph steady on the treadmill yet....I'm more at 5mph but I keep telling myself that I am only competing with ME so keep going....!! Awesome. And that spaghetti deal sounds NOM NOM!! ;-) as does everything you cook. Love the new bedroom look!! We have very similar tastes in home decor!

I love the bedroom! It looks bigger and cleaner.

I don't have any running strategies for distance...I go for speed and throw up.

Your bedroom is gorgeous! Looks so comfy/welcoming. I love the new colors. Maybe you could try training for a 10K?

Maybe you could follow a 10K training plan next. Are you interested in running an actual race? I find that singing up for a race really helps me to stick with a plan and increase my mileage.

Eight miles! Congratulations!

I second the above suggestion to find a 10K training plan!

Great job running! I love your updated room - very lovely and chic! I do like to switch things up but tend to buy things and then take them back until I find just the right thing.

Congrats on getting comfortable with the 5k!! Maybe try for 5 miles now? Or speedwork- you could make it your goal to shave a a minute off your mile pace. There are so many ways to improve running skills!!

Love the bedroom- green is my favorite color for decorating!
