After ST I went ahead and showered and blowdried my hair at the gym because OMG my traffic has been HORRIBLE this week. Like no 1-hour roundtrip commute, more like 2-hour roundtrip commute. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving some James Patterson 8th Confession audio book but this is just ridiculous! :( I stayed at the gym until 7:30 p.m. and traffic was STILL bad. Sigh. Anywho, enough complaining. Here is another new recipe I whipped up this weekend:
Ranchero Macaroni Bake
Recipe adapted from a Recipes for Moms recipe
Makes 6 Servings
Nutritional Information: 401 calories, 47 carbs, 6 fat grams and 32 protein grams.
Review: Very good. The green salsa really added some extra fire that I think I would have missed if I hadn't added. The soupiness helped - I was nervous at first to stir before adding the chips, but it made a big difference and helped it cook more evenly. I liked the chip layer too - very crunchy, especially against the pasta/soupiness of the rest of the recipe. All in all, I would make this again and wouldn't change anything, great pastsa bake!
Needless to say, once I got home at 8:15 (after talking with my mom the whole way home!), I just had dinner, got in bed and had a piece of cake and some milk. No joke - I needed a dessert like no other! We settled in for Duplicity with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. It wasn't bad or anything but I passed out about one hour in. Oops!
Q: What's your commute like? Mine is usually 30 - 40 minutes to work and 20-30 minutes home. So an hour. Except for Friday's - it's WIDE open, like I can do round-trip in 40 minutes - woo! For the record, i'm exactly 16 miles from my office.
P.S. Only tell me if your commute is as bad or worse than mine. J/k!

Mine is about 25 minutes each way. I used to work in the Cumberland Mall area and it would take me an hour to get home at night.
Oh my traffic! Sorry to hear about that :( Traffic makes me batty. I lived near DC for almost a year....and had to move LITERALLY because of the traffic. Now I work mostly from home....so a minute walk down the stairs I guess. Glad you still got in a fab workout and delicious bake (YUM!).
I really hate my commute to work. I takes me between 45 minutes to a hour. Sometimes it can be well over an hour due to traffic. It's over 30 miles each way plus tolls. I really hate it. :(
Dinner looks delicious! I LOVE Mexican food!
I only commute 7 minutes to work :) I am in Greenville, SC so it is pretty short here. My husband was talking about the possibility of us moving to Atlanta, but we were looking into North Atlanta. Are you familiar with the area? Would you have any recommendations? Email me at sdombroski@hotmail.com :)
Haha! My commute is zero if I'm at home in SC because I get to work from home. If I go into the office (and it totally depends on our schedule) then it's 3 & 1/2 hour drive (if I don't hit traffic). I go in once or twice a month and am there for a few days or weeks usually. :)
p.s. cake & milk sounds divine, especially after an aggravating drive.
I just re-read my comment and meant haha in regards to you only wanting to hear if it was worse than yours. ;) You're so funny!
i hate traffic too. Mine is about 30-35 minutes each way and I am only 14 miles from work. Friday's are better for me too. Do you feel like you spend your whole day at work then the gym? I went yesterday and by the time I got home it felt like it was time for bed.
sorry bout the commute. im so lucky i live in a small town. my daily commute to anywhere is 10 minutes tops :) but yesterday it took me 15 minutes to get home when it usually takes me 5 minutes. damn snow.
p.s. love the new site.
Sorry about the commute. That sounds miserable!
Mine is about 15-20 each way. It used to be more like 40 each way, but I switched my hours to 7 -4 (used to be 8-5) and it really helped. Plus I get to be home during more of the daylight, which I love!
Dang homie that is quite a commute! I'm about 15 mins away from my house.
I am going to make the Ranchero Macaroni Bake. Looks yummy!!
My commute is about 45 minutes each way (50 miles round trip).
See ya at book club :)
When we moved out to the "sticks" my once 15 minute commute turned into 2 hours.
I did that for about six months and realized I didn't have a life. By the time I got home, made dinner, worked on homework with Hannah it was time for bed.
Now my commute, even if I catch every red light, is 11 minutes :D I am usually already making dinner by 5:20 :D
We live out in the boonies and I drive my girls 20 minutes in one direction to school. That's my work commute. Crazy!! Luckily, there's little traffic at that time of the morning.
Dang homie that is quite a commute! I'm about 15 mins away from my house.
