"Free" DVDs, Belated Christmas, Birthday Dinner, New Skillet Recipe, 3 Miles

Thanks for your support, guys! That driver truly was a. total. psycho. Austin, at first, thought i'd gotten into the wreck, thankfully he wasn't right! Eek! I did come close though and it reminds me that, like skiing, it's not always what you're doing or not doing, you have to watch out for crazy and/or stupid people. The end. hehe And thank you also for the ramekin ideas - can't wait to play with those little fellas!!!!! Yesterday was pretty standard. Just work, 3-mile walk during lunch wile reading Joanne Fluke's Cream Puff Murder, and then more work. I also did a run to Target for new Nike headphones (mine decided to continue our vacation in Colorado). These are the only kind I can wear:
Yes, I've tried others. No, they won't stay in. I will say these aren't the best as far as I've had to replace two pair being that they randomly quit working but, I use them every day and it had been at least 8 months so what are you going to do? Bygones. So i'm at Target and no, they don't carry them anymore. Amazon here I come. But somehow I left with 9 DVDs. Five for me and Austin, 4 for my mom. Target is selling a bunch of DVDs for $3.75. Wha? This is perfect for my kitchen DVD player. Duh! I got a few favorites for me: Knocked Up, Juno and The Holiday (and a couple for Austin: Supertroopers and the classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High). For my mom I picked up 27 Dresses, Juno, Baby Mama and The Holiday. Oh Target, how I buy things when I don't need them. I DID have a $10 gift card to burn so REALLY, I got 5 movies for $10. I mean that's $2 a movie. THAT'S THE BOMB.

Moving on. After work Austin met me and we headed straight over to East Atlanta to see my sis, mom and bro-in-law. We celebrated a belated Christmas and I gave them their prezzies (Sis & bro: a canvas/wall art of an X-ray of a camera - he's a photographer - and a game - they're about to have a baby - game night is ON. For mom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 1 on DVD - she loves that show as do I - and a DVD of Jennifer's Body - per her request). Then it was off to dinner at Vickery's Bar & Grill in East Atlanta to celebrate my mom's birthday, which is the day after Christmas! More gifts ensued - I got her some cutie cute Crate & Barrel items including a vase and some kitchen stuff (all in blue to match her casa!), and Buffy Season 2 (I know, original). I got wonderful gifts from my family, including a Kate Spade tote in a cute ski-related print, an awesome R&R bag for Reuben and Remy's stuff (complete with travel bowls), and $150 to Pottery Barn. They know me so well and are too generous. Love! Here's some pics:

The group - my brother in law Zach and sis Devon, my Mom, me and Austin
Austin's in fire (i moved the camera before it was ready but loved the effect)
The ladies (well and Dane - he's with Dev and due in a mere 2.5 months!)
Belated Christmas at Zach and Devon's awesome casa beforehand
Mom loved her gifts - this is one of the gifts I snagged for her at C&B
Not a great picture, but love the Kate Spade bag!
And Reuben loved the R&R bag - it's really awesome and perfect for all times but especially for when I take the puppers to Auburn games!!
Last but not least, here is another new recipe I whipped up this week.

Skillet Chili Mac with Corn

Recipe adapted from Mel’s Kitchen CafĂ©

Makes 6 Servings

Nutritional Information: 357 calories, 43 carbs, 8 fat grams and 27 protein grams.

In the skillet!

Q: Have you ever had chili mac? I have had a similar recipe (this one), which is a great go-to since it uses canned chili, but I prefer this more homemade one!

Q: What was the best gift you gave this year? I really enjoyed shopping for my family this year - one of those things that as a kid you think you're NEVER going to like giving more but then one day you do. I think my favorite find may have been the canvas camera wallart for D & Z - just so appropriate!

You should check out Yurbuds. They are sized and fit over regular earbuds and DO NOT fall out. They're about $20 and I think they may even have a warranty.

So these don't look fancy, but the little stub above the ear bud actualy keeps the headphones snug in your ear: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-MX85-Sport-Twist-Earbuds/dp/B001GSZAF0
