Book Review, New Mexican Bake, Fage Shout Out

Thanks, friends! I'm DEFINITELY still sick, unfortunately. I may feel worse today than I did yesterday. BLAH. Almost called in sick to work... but decided to just suck it up and go in - knew i'd just work from home if I didn't. BOO. Oh well, on another note, thanks also for your comments on my new breakfast potato skins! They were super yummy!

So on the way home yesterday, I finished Nora Roberts' The Search. It was a good audio book, as far as I enjoyed the main character, Fiona, a woman who escaped serial murderer and is trying to rebuild her life. However, a copycat murderer is out and he's apparently after her. The story was good, I liked Finoa and enjoyed learning about her profession (dog trainer), and I really did feel the suspense and enjoyed several of the other main characters. However, I gave it 2.5/5 - the story was just too slow for me and while there were a few parts that had me very engaged, a lot of the time I was just waiting for something to happen and the end was a bit anti-climatic for me. I guess it was less of a mystery and more of a character study - I didn't know that going in so my expectations weren't met. For a character study - 4/5, for a mystery/thriller like I thought it was, the 2.5/5 stands.

I also have a recipe to share - a new one, one I made up on my own! I rarely do this, and truth be told, this recipe is a blend of a coupe of my recipes. But me and Austin were very happy with it. Here goes:

Chicken Tortilla Casserole
Makes 6 Servings
A Kelly original - I know! Yay! :)

Nutritional Information: 388 calories, 46 carbs, 6 fat grams and 29 protein grams.

And in somewhat food/recipe-related news, I wanted to share the sweetest shout out! As many of you know I heart some 0% Fage yogurt. I use it in lots of my recipes, especially curries! So I noticed a hellacious spike over at Healthified Kitchen and this was why!
How sweet were they? I of course had to comment and thank them for the adorable shout out. I mean really - who doesn't love a shout out?!

Q: Has a company you adore ever given you a shout out? If not, who totally owes you a shout since you're OBSESSED with their product(s)? :) Cabot, you know, my besties over in Vermont with the fabulous cheese, they gave me one on Facebook for one of my recipes - love them, too!! I think that diet pepsi could easily give me a shout. And skyy vodka. And crystal light. And laughing cow. There are so many peeps i'm loyal too! LOL

Q: Have you ever read a Nora Roberts book? This is my second one - I listened to her J.D. Robb book (one of a series) and liked it better than this one. Although, truth be told, hard to compare- SO different!

Your Mexican bake sounds and looks delish. Great stats too! :)

I'm actually just finishing the third book in the Quartet series, which Nora Roberts wrote. They're easy reads and kind of girly (about 4 best friends in a wedding business together who find their future husbands), but that's just what I need sometimes. I usually read during my lunch break or if I take the train to work. I'm sure I've read other books of hers, but can't remember the titles off the top of my head.

Chobani gave me a shout out earlier this year and featured me on their blog...I was really thankful for that :) I love greek yogurt and Fage and Cho are creamy so I like them.

Yay for you for the shoutout, it's good when company recognize their loyal fans!

I love Cabot cheese too, recently discovered it last year and I love their sharp cheddar, a little goes a long way.

Get well soon.

You can earn $20 for a 20 minute survey!

Guess what? This is exactly what large companies are paying me for. They need to know what their average customer needs and wants. So large companies pay $1,000,000's of dollars per month to the average person. In return, the average person, like me and you, fills out surveys and gives them their opinion.
