Mardi Gras Ball, 8 Miles, LuLuLemon Fail

Okay, so maybe chunky was the wrong word. First time in spandex since high school danceline uniforms - forgive! I think I just mean it was very snausage like - I was like well HELLO, thighs - i'm not used to this. I'm a circle skirt, nike tempo-shorts, a-line dress wearing, self-proclaimed boy-shaped pear-ish kinda gal. So these pants just put it all out there in a way that i'm not used to, or entirely comfortable with, but hey, it's okay, and you girls sure know how to make a girl blush! Thanks for your sweet comments! How was your Friday? Mine went a little something like this:

Work, 4 mile walk and a bit of abs during lunch with Stacy, a visit to LuLuLemon which turned out fruitless as their pants, while I LOVED the style and they were super flattering, were a bit less capri and a bit more like ankle pants. Cute? Maybe. But not a 5'2" chica whose looking for pants that hit just below the knee. For $88 they had to be right. So i'm going to spin a bit, make sure it's something I want to do on the regular and if so, go back. These are the ones I tried on. They said the shorter ones would be in "in late spring early summer." Oy.
No, they don't come with those abs. If they did, the $88 sticker wouldn't even kind of sting! After Lululemon we hit up Lacoste and Austin got a new shirt, then we were on our way to Auburn to meet Tyson, say hey to Teresa, then drop off a car - time to hit Mobile for a Mardi Gras Ball! After a long drive, we got in town and went to a dinner party, then to O'Daly's Irish Pub for a drink, then to Boo Radley's to check out the band and dance. Fun night! I bumped into some old friends from college and we had a blast!

At Boo Radley's
Hilarious with those captain hats
The boys had a good time!
Saturday we woke up to find horrible weather and a cancelled parade. BOO! We made the best of it and had breakfast at the hotel, visited friends, and checked into the second hotel (within walking distance to the ball). Then I hit the gym and walked 4 miles, finished a book, and then met up with the guys at the hotel bar. Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the ball! We had a great night, saw so many friends from college and had a very late night. But it was a good time and of course hilarious to see the boys in matching tuxes with tails, and fun to dress up in long gowns! Here's some pics

Great to see Jama!
Last picture of the night! haha
Ball invites!
I swear i'm wearing a dress haha
See :) Thanks again to Mon for letting me borrow!

Q: Have you ever been to a mardi gras ball or ball of any kind? First mardi gras ball for me - I loved seeing everyone dressed up!

Q: What was the highlight of your weekend? Mine was probably Saturday, before we went to the ball, just hanging at the hotel having a beer with Austin & Tyson - I heart chill time!

You'll get used to the spandex. I cannot wear shorts, they ride up, so I'm always in spandex.

I went to a Mardi Gras ball in New Orleans maybe like 6 years ago when one of my good friends was in law school down there. It was insane! In a good way.

haha- gotta love being short and trying on "capris" that just end up looking like pants or flood pants. The weekend looks like so much fun! LOVE the dress you wore to the ball and your makeup looks amazing. I have to say- we had a great weekend overall- hard to pick a best part

Lululemon has free hemming. You can get almost any pants done. You should ask them about it the next time you are in :)

I just went to lulu for the first time this weekend. I had a gift card so the price didn't sting as much, but I agree- holy crap is it expensive! I did get their astro pant and I am in love. I am also lucky enough to have hips and spandex makes me squeamish so I know how you feel.

I've been to New Orleans twice and both times were around Mardi Gras (my bestie lives there) but I never got to go to a ball. I wish..some day!

Oh what a fun weekend -- sorry the parade got canceled though.

I've never been to a Mardi Gras ball but it sounds like a good time!

The highlight of my weekend: Shopping! New work clothes and new books galore. :D

You looked gorgeous!! Never been to a ball, but it sounds like so much fun. I always wanted to be a debutante as a teenager, just for the ball!

I am also 5'2 but LOVE Lulu. They have free hemming on all of their stuff for 5 years. It is expensive but it's great gear.
