My Wedding... in a Nutshell

So, my first anniversary is coming up quick (February 16... still can't believe it even though I talked about it YESTERDAY). We had every intention to go to Mexico and had it all worked out, but there was a work event I couldn’t miss so we had to forgo the trip. Then house stuff sprung up, and now here we are, less than 2 weeks out, and we’re like “I love you but I’d rather put that 3 G’s toward the house instead of the anniversary.” I myself am more than okay with this and figure we can go back our regular plan of skiing in December and our new plan of going “somewhere tropical” every February starting in 2010 when we’re all settled and cozy in our house and aren’t worrying about it in the back of our minds. That being said, we’re thinking we’ll just go out to a nice dinner to celebrate the first one, and let our house be our anniversary gift to each other. Damn good gift if you ask me! So, in celebration of my pending anniversary with Austin (who it must be said I’ve been dating since we met on the stairs at our apartment complex at Auburn University in September 2001 when we were 19 and 21... we're now 26 & 28...), I’ve decided to post some of my FAVORITE pics from my wedding day, taken by my awesome and talented brother-in-law/photographer Zach Porter. Hope you enjoy! We just LOVED it… all of it was amazing.

Sigh. Loved our wedding... hope you enjoyed it in a nutshell. :) And i'm sorry if you're thinking I suck at picking my "favorites." hehe I swear I narrowd it down from a million! Here's Zach's site if you want to see more of his stuff - I just love it.

I'll be back to my regular programming tomorrow with today's food, etc. Hope you all have great Wednesdays!!

OHMYGOD! So beautiful! I, too, want all candles and photos as gorgeous as yours! What'd you use those super awesome cones for? Favors? I love love LOVE how sophisticated your wedding was and how fab the lighting is in these photos.

I hope mine holds a candle to it...beautiful!

What BEAUTIFUL photos! Thank you so much for sharing. Your getaway car was awesome! And you were a beautiful bride!
That sounds like a great way to celebrate your anniversary. What could be a better gift to each other?! You have many years to come to go on tropical vacations ;)
Congratulations!

Where'd you get married? I don't remember if I told you, but I LOVE the lighted trees, are they? around the aisle. LOVE IT. it's so beautiful and romantic.

Neesha: Thanks so much!! Oh I loved the candles - probably one of the least expensive things but so pretty (I bought glasses from Ikea in different heights and then did some floating candles and some of different heights). We did the little bags of chocolate for favors - the cones had feathers in them so you'd just take a cone off the "trees" (had ornament hooks on the wire) and then get the feathers out for the send off! :) I was all about lighting - another inexpensive thing for those uplights in all of the "dead spaces."

Oh it will!! Can't wait to see YOUR pics!!

Thinspired: Thanks so much!! Aw we loved it - 1949 Bentley I think? Something like that!

I think it's perfect for us - we just have to be careful about Valentine's Day - BLAH - don't want to get caught up in that deal. hehe we DO - great point!!

HK: :) Thanks - I was and am!! Aw thanks - I love those pics, too... such a happy day. Our ceremony was all Beatles music too (from a guitar and flute!) which made it even more special. Sigh - loved that day!

Prettface: At Vestavia Country Club in Birmingham! Aw thanks! The floral designers made those out of polls and curly willow - then taped leaves on and hung ribbon and candles from them. Probably the biggest fire hazard ever created. hehe Thanks - I loved it too. I wanted it to be super special since we were getting married at the club rather than a church.

Sarah W: Thanks! That was one of Austin’s only requests (aside from a band and a full bar) – he was like please leave your hair down and look like YOU! hehe

Fitnessista: Thanks so much :) - I’m happy to!

Balanceisbest: thanks, girl!! Haha I know it, right? Aw – thank you so much! Oh yes – he will! I wanted a shih poo SO BAD but we were planning a wedding 3 hours away and just had A LOT going on, lived on the 4th floor in 1,200 square feet, the dogs were upwards of $1,000 – not a good time to be spending money - so Austin was like bad timing. But…. I found a shih poo ON SALE, that wouldn’t get bigger than 6 pounds, that didn’t shed and that I would litter box train so there were no issues! He gave in and now Reuben is our best, best friend. Good luck!

DG: Thank you so much!! Aw I loved them! The girls liked having different ones, too, I just worried 9 girls in identical dresses would be too armyesque. :) I laughed in 27 dresses when it happened, but a few girls really did shorten them and wear them again to weddings! Hehe

Luckytastebuds: Aw thanks much!! You are so sweet – thank you!! I honestly can’t believe it’s been a year. Those pics seem like yesterday.

Eurydice: Thanks you!! Oh I just love his photos – I’ve GOT to do my wedding album – eek!

Mar: hehe, right? I suck! Aw thanks – we definitely had a blast and you know I’d be THRILLED to be your honorary planner…. For a fee. Hehe j/k! haha yes – awesome gift!!

Kelly D: :) I’m glad you had fun! I think me and Austin may have had too much fun. Hehe Loved it. Thanks, girl! Your wedding will be here before you know it!

Dev: :) Aw thank you – these are my favorites as the day went on (well really I had LOTS more favorites but ya know… had to try to break it down!). Thanks – I know it! Love you too!

Heathermarie: Thanks so much! Yes, while Austin was all bad/liquor I was all about the décor/lighting and MOOD. Hehe
