6 Miles, Upper Body Circuit, Costco Hiccup and C25K 4 Miles

Next time I do squats i'm doing weights! Some of you amaze me with the amount of weight you do!! Wowza!! I love mysteries too, and chick lit, not so much for the biographies or romance novels though. I think that's why we're all liking our book club so much - it really gives us the chance to read books we wouldn't have read otherwise - fun!!

Backtracking to Tuesday! The usual: Work, 4 miles during lunch, work more, 2 miles after work and an upper body circuit – love it! Plan to do it twice a week then mix it up later! After work I raced home and threw together this pizza – my half is 3-pepper pizza with stoplight bell peppers! Austin’s is the same – but with added pepperonis.

Aerial view. hehe

Close up on my half!

My serving

Fabulous! I will say I had a girl scout binge at work… evil cookies. Here’s my stats: 1,829 calories, 236 carbs, 61 fat grams and 77 protein grams. Here’s what I ate.

Wednesday I worked, then used my lunch break to get gas, and hit up Costco and Home Depot for Austin’s upcoming b-day party! Long story short: I’m in Costco checked out at a little over $100 and because it’s not my costco card (Austin’s mom’s)I have to pay in cash (don’t have any) or debit card (only have credit cards). So… they’re like oh a manager will override this. The manager, a total jerk, comes over and is giving me shiz. You would have thought I was underage using a fake ID and he was a cop. Um, this is reality, you’re a costco manager and I’m trying to spend $ here. It ended with him saying my only option was to become a costco member and pay $50. I reminded him that no, there was another option, I could walk away. And then I did while thanking him for wasting my time. I mean REALLY – I’d JUST gotten gas with that card. The funny thing is we used to be members and never used it, now I tried to use it twice in one day, and the best part is he” confiscated” the card – I kid you not! (his words) LOL Get over yourself, dude! So that was useless, but I had a much better experience at Home Depot and even used a saw!

After work it was time to do C25K Week 7, Workout 1 – another 25 minute run! I did it! And kept on walking for 4 miles. This time it was harder because I was at my parent company’s gym and there was a mirror in front of me and I felt like I was watching myself the whole time. LOL It made me tired to see myself run. Is that weird? Haha I did the 3 miles burning 189 calories, then totaled out at 256 calories. Then it was shower time and BOOK CLUB!

Me and Crystal followed each other over, to meet Monica, Stacy and Shana at Devon’s house in Decatur! We had a great club, had yummy salsa/dips and all agreed – Kate Morgenroth’s They Did It With Love was AWESOME! We also had lots of great convos about everything from healthcare to 101 things to do in 1,001 days! So fun to get together with the girls. At the end we picked our next book club books: The Book Club by Mary Alice Monroe for April-ish, and Intensity by Dean Koontz for May-ish. I’m so excited about both!! Thanks again for the Koontz rec, Tina! It got late quick and I found myself not getting home until 11 p.m. – eek! I went straight to sleep! Stats: 1,621 calories, 199 carbs, 55 fat grams and 59 protein grams. Here’s what I ate.

Ever been turned away from a store? LOL

Been to any fun 30th birthday parties? We’re definitely doing a party at the house with a taco bar and I’ve locked down colors, ordered linens and done a few more things!! But I would love game ideas or cute decorating ideas!

gosh, talk about a power trip. i absolute hate when managers try to get all up in your face and act all superior to you. pisses the Shiz out of me. bummer you had a bad experience, but at least home depot fixed that for you.

That sucks about Costco. You can actually have his mom put your names on her card and you'll get your own card. That's how I have a membership.

When I was like 16, some friends and I tried to go to Chuck E. Cheese and they wouldn't let us in because we had to be 18. At Chuck E. Cheese!!

I don't think I've ever been turned away and that is really crappy on the manager's part. I completely agree with your thoughts on 'I'm spending money, why is it such a big deal?'
The birthday plans sound great! Sorry I can't think of any ideas...my sister's 30th is tomorrow and I think I'm going to take her for dinner downtown with the rest of my family. :) I'd also like to surprise her with a trip once she's free from work...maybe a cruise or something like that. :)

Wow what a d-bag! Some people just get off on that kind of power. You did the right thing...he doesn't deserve your $100!

That's what I don't like about those card member stores. That is just ridiculous and I'm glad you decided to tell him off and walk away. Serves him right. Wouldn't it just have been easier for him to let you buy everything?? I mean the store makes money + he wouldn't have to put all of your purchases back!!! Sounds like a power trip to me. Such a bummer.

That pizza looks great though!! :) And your taco bar idea sounds good!

Pizza looks yummy yummy!

I threw a surprise 30 b'day once and we had a few fun (at least we thought so) ideas.

Austin trivia - score points on knowing stuff about about Austin OR knowing what Austin would know (my friend knew way more trivia about baseball, structural engineering, ultimate Frisbee than normal). It was a passive table on the side... so you could just look at questions and see how other people answered as you were mingling.

Austin masks - We got a ton of pictures from my friend's mom and friends from all through life age 0 to 29 blew them up and printed them out. Put them on large Popsicle sticks and party goers held them up like masquerade masks.

Test Austin - have all your guests anonymously put in a box - 2 truths and a lie. Every 1/2 hour, Austin pulls one from the box and picks out the lie and who it is - if he's wrong the anonymous person reveals them self and chooses a shot - if he's right he pours a shot for the person.

Have fun!

xoxo

That is ridiculous about Costco. I don't think I've been turned away from a store....yet. :)

Ugh, Costco turned you away? Bitch, please! I love it when managers of "not respectable" enterprises get all high and mighty. Give me an F-ing break.

...but on the flip side, great 25 minutes of running! You're doing an awesome job sticking with the program.

Costco type stores make me crazy with the rules and such. Does it really matter who's card it is. Some body paid for it.

I am liking the taco bar :) Great Idea!

Was the Costco member really short (Napoleon complex) or something?! How did you not laugh when he was being so ridiculous?

I have this one client who acts really uptight and controlling on the phone. I met him in person for the first time the other day, and his controlling behavior suddenly made sense... he was like a foot shorter than me!

I meant manager, not member. ;)

Your book club sounds so much fun! And I love how you read more fun books along with some of the more serious ones as well. I wish I had such a great book club to join. Luckily, I have blog friends like you to get book ideas from :)

Kel- Can I come live with Austin and you? You make the best looking food, I swear I can just feel my mouth watering.

I'd be more than happy to eat up all that food that you won't be buying from COSTCO. LOL!

Is it your 30th birthday?? Ooohh 30!! I have mixed feelings about that age- It's just scary, BUT it gives me a damn good excuse to throw a big ass party!!

Hi Anon!

I get it- you TOTALLY disagree with me about Costco. Point made. Numerous times. I appreciate you feedback, but I really do get it.

Also, I don't know if you noticed, but my blog is about food. And fitness. And reading. It's not about Costco. This was one post out of hundreds so please. Let it go. I have. Or feel free to email me offline but my blog comments section is just not the place more than 1 month after the fact.

Thank you.
