Time for NYC

Guess who leaves for NYC in a few hours?

Yes, me and Austin are off to the airport yet again, but this time for a fun NY trip - woo! We're going to visit our friend Tyson at his place in the West Village! He turns the big 30 so we must celebrate - stat. P.S. The picture above was brought to you by my friend Mary's late night picture taking on her birthday - thanks for the unflattering shots, Mary T!

So all that's been up on my end is MAJOR catching up on your bloggies and MAJOR stomach issues. Like, there is a bug going around and I have it. No workouts for me - just pain. SAD. Hopefully it's passed - i'm on medicine today and am, fingers crossed, not sick anymore. So yesterday was just work... no gym... just packing and resting and drinking fluids. EW! I ended up at 1,750 calories, 235 carbs, 40 fat grams and 98 protein grams. Here's what I ate.

A note about weight: When I left town for Punta Cana on Wednesday I was at 121. Almost a week later, on Tuesday morning, I was at 123.5 (so 2.5 weight gain on the trip). Then Wednesday I was at 122, and today 121. So i'm back where I started, but wonder if it's just the stomach bugg - eek!

Do you typically gain weight on vacay?

Have you been to NYC? If so, what's your favorite thing to do there/place to visit/eat/etc?!

Also, wanted to say thank you, thank you thank you for all of your sweet comments on our vacay photo posts! We had SUCH A FREAKING BLAST and I really appreciate you popping over even though I wasn't able to visit you as much as normal!

Globe trotters! :) I live in the West Village .. you are going to LOVE it. And what a weekend to come b/c the weather is amazing this weekend. Check out Mole on the corner of Hudson and Jane St. Maybe for dinner or drinks. REALLY good Mexican food, fairly new restaurant. I like The Brass Monkey bar in Meatpacking which is super close. Bigger bar, kind of has a lodge feel to it. Bonelick Park on Greenwich Ave is fun for brunch.

There's a new'ish running/biking path along the Hudson that is AMAZING. They call it the Hudson River Park ... definitely worth taking a stroll/run along.

Also on Saturdays there's a cute little farmers market right in the middle of the village. I prefer the farmers market at union square because it's HUGE but this one will be super close if you wanted to grab something ... like a mini pie. ;) Have a great time!!

Gosh I'm so jealous of all your travels. NYC will be so fun!

You probably really didn't gain 2.5 pounds, I bet most of it was water weight from eating so differently and the alcohol. It probably would have evened out even without the bug.

I usually gain a bit of weight on a trip, but it doesn't stick around long.

LOVE that photo of you and Austin! Ugh, I have the same bug I think, major feeling sick and stomach pains since yesterday, I feel awful and am trying to force food down and I never lose my appetite when I am sick. Ugh! So jealous you are going to NY - should be amazing!

Wow, you are quite the traveler these days!! Have such a blast in NYC!!!!! :) I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Take care of yourself and get well soon!!!!!

I don't weigh myself after I get back from a trip, so I don't know how much weight I gain, but I do know I gain weight because I feel so bloated and heavy. I think most of it is water weight and it goes away once I get back in my routine.

Those pics are hilarious!

I gain 7-10 lbs on vacation :)

Ya'll are jet setters! Have fun in NY..I CAN'T wait to go there one day! I envy that you're back to your pre-vacation weight! I think I gained 5lbs on my cruise...the only reason I'm not freaking out about it is, because I got really sick right before the cruise and lost a bunch of weight..phew, ha!

Have SO MUCH fun in NYC!! I wish I were there this week :( There are so many amazing places to try there, I can't even begin to describe it...but if you're looking for one of the best steak dinners you'll ever have in your life, go to Keen's Steakhouse. It's not too cheap, but the decor is incredible, it's not touristy, and the food is incredible. I had amazing fish there, and my BF said it was the best steak he'd ever had!!

Oh no, so sad to hear you're feeling icky. That's the worst kind of sick there is. It has been going around my office too -- I've been hiding out with the door shut and using hand sanitizer every five seconds.

I hope you're feeling all kinds of better for your trip to the Big Apple. Have fun!

Yep...I always gain weight on vacay. But most of it is water weight and tends to fall off in a week or so.
Have fun in NYC!! One of my favorite cities ever!

I think what you put on and took right off is just the extra bloat from foods and drinks you aren't used to, aka water retention!! :)

I freakin love NYC...love it! So jealous right now! I'm sure I do gain when I'm on vacay, but I don't let myself step on the scale until about a week after I get home. That gives me time to come back to normal! Have a great trip!

Two Favorite Things to Do in NYC:

1. Run in Central Park
2. Eat Pizza at Grimaldi's (located under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Brooklyn side).

I would go to New York just to do those two things!

Have fun this weekend, that sounds so great! I've never been to New York before.

I say splurg a little while on vacation! One year I remember going to the Wisconsin Dells and I gained 5 pounds! I worked my ass off for 2 weeks and then I was back to where I was AND I had a great time on my trip. I say don't stress out about it, especially if its a fun trip, no one likes to diet when doing that!

Agh I'm so jealous! Love NYC! I'm hoping to make a trip later this summer.

There's an intensely delicious Italian place with painfully handsome waiters that I went to once in the West Village... and I cannot remember the name! Agh!

In regards to vacations, I actually tend to lose/maintain weight. Part of it is I tend to be active on vacations (hiking and so on), I don't snack as much, and honestly I think I'm just hypervigilant because there is such a temptation to let go on vacations!

Hope you have a great trip! Sometimes I gain weight when I'm on vacation. It just depends on how dedicated I am to exercising and eating right while I'm gone... haha

Hey girl! Hope you're having fun in NY.

I always think that I'm going to gain weight on vacay, but normally end up walking so much that it all evens out!

Hey Sweet Pea, I can totally relate to being swamped, I think you know that. I'm just catching up on reading some blogs today! Dang!
NYC is a place I love and I now know sooo many more amazing people than ever before. If you want, ask for Brian Simpson at the Roger Smith Hotel, he is a good friend and can show you some fabulous food and fun things to do. ;-)

Punta Cana AND NYC?! You are such a little jetsetter! Love it!
Funny about weight and travel. I am the same way--I usually will gain a few on vacay but then they come off quick.

Also, you look fabulous! I've been scared to check in with the scale...eek. I know I should eventually though, can't wait to back through your previous posts. You're making me want a vacay!!
