Book Review, Track Back, Cooking Ralley, Charleston Bound

Hi, friends! Thanks for your comments - GREAT wedding weekend. And OMG, glad i'm not alone - buffets are the devil. hehe

So I never did my book review for Carrie Ryan's The Dead-Tossed Waves. This book was a sequel to The Forrest of Hands and Teeth. I liked it a lot! I will say I like it better than the first in that the story was able to carry on, I learned what happened to some of the first book's characters and it was nice to see how it all fit together. I also liked the 'younger generation,' learning more about the forest and having new characters to get interested in. I will say that the main character in this book, Gabrielle, got on my nerves a bit. She was just either too cautious or too reckless for me - no in between. Kinda like a scary movie when you're like NO STUPID, don't do it! LOL But overall, I enjoyed the story and can't wait until May 2011 for the sequel. I give this one a 4.5/5 - would have been a 5 if the main character had been slightly less annoying!

To avoid this being a picture-less post - I have a pic of me and Austin from the wedding! (rare, i'm getting better but tend to forget to get one of just us!) :)

Yesterday I also go around to tracking back:

Thursday: Ended up at 1,822 calories, 232 carbs, 30 fat grams and 87 protein grams. Here’s what I ate.

Friday: Not too shabby – didn’t eat foods that I prepared too much but did make some pretty good choices! Did have a few drinks though. Sigh. Ended up at 2,094 calories, 177 carbs, 59 fat grams and 113 protein grams. Here’s what I ate and drank.

Saturday: randoms all day with the wedding food and alcohol from 6 to 4…. Lovely! Ended up at 2,337 calories, 174 carbs, 42 fat grams and 102 protein grams. Here’s what I ate and drank.

Sunday: pretty much random snacks + Indian food takes me to 1,347 calories, 152 carbs, 40 fat grams and 101 protein grams. Here’s what I ate.

What else? Not much. Work was SUPER stressful yesterday - work, work, work. Worked through lunch. After work I was beat. Shot down. Ready for bed. LOL I headed straight home and cooked a bit (Sunday I was only able to cook 4 servings of Greek Feta Chicken and 6 servings of spicy spaghetti pie. So today, I got home, through 4 servings of Bacon Ranch slowcooker chicken in the slowcooker and 6 servings of brunch pizza squares in the oven. While they cooked, I put together 4 servings of Chicken Enchilada Casserole - YUM! Then I headed upstairs, changed and got in bed! I watched some TV with the fam, did upper body ST, and called it a night! I ended up at 1,744 calories, 216 carbs, 54 fat grams and 112 protein grams. Here's what I ate.

Q: Started any new books lately? I'm still trying to read The Lace Reader, but think i'm going to start a new one P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast's Marked or Nancy Werlin's Impossible!

Q: What are you up to this coming weekend? We're off to Charleston with the Velotas's (Mary & Jimmy) for a couple's weekend/our friend Michael Fox's wedding weekend/visiting Mary & Mike and seeing their new pharmacy!!

Glad you got some rest after stressful work!

Everytime I see you do a book review I am only reminded of my lack of reading - well, other than cookbooks!

Ryan and I always forget to take pics together. Silly us! I'm currently reading the first Sookie Stackhouse novel. I'm obsessed with True Blood so it's a fun read!

Have you read The Help? It was really good.

My brother is coming to visit this weekend. We're actually going to a concert up in your neck of the woods.

Love the picture! Since getting married, I usually forget to get pictures of me and the hubs together. That never happened when we were dating!

Cute picture of you and Austin!

Check out Jennifer Weiner's new book -- it's cute and a good beach read. (Her books are always good!) Oh, and the folks that suggested The Help and 19th Wife are spot on -- those are both great books as well!

Have fun to Charleston!!
