Back in Town, Book Review, Car Update

Yay! Sounds like you guys had a great weekend! We really enjoyed ours - although blah - being back at work today was not fun! Backing up...Yesterday we slept in – glorious! Then we got up to Ruje and Mark’s cheesy hashbrown, fried egg and English muffin breakfast – yum! Soon after we packed up, said our goodbyes, and headed to Atlanta. On the way in we stopped at Trader Joe’s for some favorites, and then went to the dealership about the car. Basically, they were unable to replicate the sound. Multiple people looked at it, it was driven several times, etc. – and nothing. So they suggested we take it to be inspected by a third party (as we planned). So we drove it over to the inspection place, did an overnight drop, crossed our fingers and headed home to unpack, chill, watch TV and read! Later I cooked a bit but really – I wanted another lazy day and I got it! I ended up at 1,426 calories, 164 carbs, 44 fat grams and 86 protein grams. Here’s what I ate.

One more thing, time to share my book review on The Help. So… honestly, it was amazing. I mean really – 5/5 hand’s down. I don’t know if I felt so close to it being from the south, always having had an interest in the civil rights movement or WHAT, but this book, told from 3 female perspectives in Jackson, Miss., had me in from the minute I read it. I know it’s a popular book, but I really don’t want to give too much away (even from the jacket cover). I will say that the writing was great – descriptive, but not so much so that it lost the plot. It was clever and I just couldn’t put it down – dying to know what would happen to each of the main characters, Skeeter, Aibileen and Minny –a mix of women from different backgrounds and races that together tell an interesting story from a new perspective during a scary time. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone, but especially to women – there is a great message that has nothing to do with black and white. High drama, a bit of mystery and even some comedy – best book I’ve read so far this year!

Q: What’s the best book you’ve ever read? This is super hard for me, but if I had to choose I must admit – The Help is definitely right up there with To Kill a Mocking Bird, The Hunger Games, The Time Traveler’s Wife and The Host!

Q: What’s your favorite thing about a Long Weekend? I can fit in more! Love it – I really felt like I got an excellent vacation and a great mix of active and relaxation – woo!

Tomorrow I'll post another book review - The Doctor's Wife (read it in 2 days!). I'll also post a new recipe - Chicken & Basil Stirfry - YUM!!

I love long weekends because usually they are spent with people you care about the most and if you are like us, you are chillaxing! I love hanging out in low key settings. The hubs and I totally had a party in the living room on our air matress watching movies in our pjs. It was the best!

I hope things work out with the car!

I LOVED The Help, definitely one of my fave books this year too - along with Sarah's Key and Those Who Save Us.

I love the extra day of sleeping in from long weekends and just the extra relaxation they bring.

Basil Stir Fry? Sounds delish!! As for the book, I really like Nicholas Sparks books. My favorite is probably The Choice. I'm a huge baby and absolutely balled during that book. But it was so good!!

I don't know if its the best book but my favorite book is Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. I can read it numerous times and never get sick of it.

And isn't that what always happens? The problems never show up when you're at the appointment.

I've had The Help on the reading list for a while but haven't made it yet. I've heard that it's amazing. And IT IS going to be a movie!

My favorite - this year - is still the "Girl" serious. It's just so werid/twisted and I love it!
