Most Treasured Object, First Time Hummus Maker, Lovely Lazy Sunday

Happy Monday! Hope you're all having wonderful days so far - mine has been pretty good! Thanks for your sweet comments on my finger - I'm happy to report that it's healing nicely, but still hurts like all get out. Grrr. So last week Christina (love that girl!) posted a picture of her most treasured object. It was her stuffed animal/bestie/comfort toy/you name it. It inspired me to post about Molly. Here she is the day I got her, on my 3rd birthday when we were living in Germany. Yes, I'm a total cheeseball - love it.

Please ignore the pink bow at top left - I scanned this from a scrapbook! You can find her here - she is a Steiff animal! Me and mom think the new 'molly' bear is darker and a bit more masculine. Anywho - back to me and Molly. She slept with me every night for years and years. My mom said I would cover her with a doll blanket and that she was my special sleep buddy. She was always a permanent fixture on my bed, even in college. When I moved in with Austin he thought I was a total freak was a bit bothered by it – but she was just a pillow… right? Anyway, I have her now – but she’s in my closet on the top of a drawer system at eye level – the first thing I see when I go in my closet. :) Here she is now:

This girl is LOVED. I love how much history we have together, and how so many of my memories include her. Man i'm sappy for a Monday. hehe Anywho, on Sunday I was DYING for hummus. I wanted a spinach flat out wrap with hummus, feta cheese and lettuce and I wanted it NOW. I knew we had everything, ran downstairs and NOPE, no hummus. DANG. However, I did have ingredients to MAKE hummus - something i'd never done. So I looked up a bunch of recipes and mashed them all up to our liking (i.e. we like smooth vs. dry hummus, we like garlic... a lot of it, I prefer more tahini over more olive oil, etc.). Here's how it went:
Makes 8 100-calorie servings OR
16 50-calorie servings

Q: Have you ever made your own hummus? If so, did you love it? And if so - SHARE! :) I plan to try roasted red peppers or sun dried tomatoes next time. It's so on. I may add cumin or red chili flakes too for some heat.

Q: What's your most treasured object? Any childhood toys still have a special sentiment with you?

My most treasured object is the baby blanket my Grandma made for me when I was little.

Totally a fan of creamy hummus, however I’ve never made it.

I actually just discovered that I even like hummus last year! I'd never tasted it. Doesn't look too hard to make.

Loved Christina's post! Glad you did your own! I was a huge stuffed animal kid- I still have a few of my favorites. I love homemade hummus. I just tahini too and the juice from the chickpea can. Perfectly creamy! Enjoy your day <3

I've made hummus before but I'm usually too lazy. I hate cleaning the food processor, haha!
I have my two security blankets still from when I was little. I love them.

I love making hummus. So easy. I actually use both chickpeas and white beans (for the creaminess) and found that if you heat them up before blending, they get super creamy with far less oil.

Love the bear. My sister and I had a bear (always had same toys to avoid fights) and my niece now has them!

Homemade hummus is the best! I'm more of a smooth, no tahini, more olive oil girl!

Love your bear :) And bow!

Oh man, Molly is so cute! That's presh. I had a little stuffed pig that I took everywhere with me - Wilbur.

We've made our own hummus before - roasted garlic is usually our go to but we're much less "classy" about it. Our mix is usually chick peas, olive oil, garlic in some combo and food processed until it looks right. Maybe we should follow a recipe sometime!

I still sleep with a blanket that I've had since I was 8. I can't sleep as well when I don't have it with me. True story.

I've made hummus a bunch of times but it never tastes quite right.

My most special item...my diamond earrings from my mom. They were my grandma's and then my mom's and now they're mine. :)

I have to tell you that I bought and put together a buffet for our dining room this weekend and can't wait to organize it with some of your tips!!! --Laurel
