10K Training, Book Club, Tough Week, Slowcooker Round Up

I'm sorry I've been MIA , friends! This week has been a hard one. Nothing bad, just more difficult than others. Mostly because Austin's been gone all week. Yes, boo. He's coming back tonight but he left Monday a.m. and guess what? It's SO much harder when i'm alone. Reuben's feedings/clean up are both on me, all of the chores are on me, and you know what? It's NOT as much fun cooking for one. Or eating alone. It's weird! And I don't sleep as well. At all. So I've been crabby too. Other than that, I've been dealing with this AWFUL car dealership on the car I bought. More on that later... i'm still shocked by their behavior...

SO, not to be a big downer, but it's just been a tough week. SO excited for Austin to come back. Here are a few highlights from the past few days!

Tuesday was just work, walked 3 miles during lunch, more work, and then another run after work! I did the 3.5-mile run again at 6.3 mph - it's really feeling more natural. Other than that, me and Reuben just watched some TV!

Wednesday was a 5-hour meeting that went all the way through lunch. Sigh. Then back to work for a crazy busy afternoon playing catch up, to a rough commute home to get Reuben from the groomer, then another 40-minute ride to book club. oy. However, book club was SO fun - great to see Crystal, Devon, Stacy, Mon, Danielle and Karly! Loved seeing what was up with the girls - definitely the highlight of my evening, although we missed Shana! :( Other than catching up, girl time and a couple of glasses of wine, we also chose new books!! Sharp Objects for October's meeting and Hissyfit for November's - yay!

Lastly - THANK YOU for the slowcooker links/ideas. I plan to try! And Danielle - SO GLAD you got a slowcooker - I love mine. :) And no, I never leave it on when i'm not home. I know people who do and it's all good, but when i'm not here Reuben is and I just can't chance it! (such a personal choice!) Anywho, I thought you guys may want to see THREE of my favorite slow-cooker recipes - all from fellow bloggers - ENJOY!!

please forgive the poor picture - iPhone AND taken in a plastic tub - double whammy!

Q: What makes you feel better after a tough week? I think i'm going to hang with the fam and maybe do some cooking! This weekend, i'm thinking about getting a pedicure... :)

Q: How do you handle businesses who treat you wrong? I've honestly been upset about it all day. I just want to handle it and they're putting me off and REALLY frustrating me. I plan to file a complaint with the better business Bureau, and post reviews everywhere - I don't want anyone to have to deal with their bs!

K - off to relax and read blogs - "see" you soon!!

I feel like that when Jason isn't home too. I always call him like at least 3 times a day.

Definitely get a pedicure!

Aww, hopefully your weekend will be better. As for the car, I would definitely file a complaint with BBB.

Spending time with family & friends always helps. I also love to go to Borders/B&N get a big latte and settle down with the latest fashion & gossip magazines with occasional people watching thrown in there too. :)

WINE. That's what makes me feel better after a rough week! I hate hate hate sleeping alone. I'm totally thinking about investing in a pillow pet when Ryan leaves! For real!

I hate that the car dealership is actin' a fool. Ryan and I are all about complaining (well Ryan complains and I throw in a few "Yeahs" and sassy body language). I'm a huge customer service advocate and if you aren't treating me the way I would treat you, then it will be brought to the table.

I hope your reunion with Austin is fabulous and you have an awesome Friday!

I've been following you for months now and I have to say I love your blog because you cover all three of my favorite things:
1. cooking light
2. reading
3. working out

Thank you so much for sharing so many of your recipes. I've made two meals so far and they've been a BIG hit. Next up is this ranch pasta bad-for-you looking dish- but not bad at all! Please don't stop posting book reviews and recipes, I love trying new things and reading new books (I'm a huge Patterson fan and I'm glad you've read his books as well)

Sorry you're having such a tough week! Yoga, comfort food and coffee (in that order too!) makes me feel better, I know that sounds really odd but they do lol whatever works! : )

Ah I know what you mean my dear- I'm in a long distance relationship, and it's tough to have your best friend miles away from you half the time. I try to stay busy.. that's the only way to keep from thinking about how much I miss him.

Have a good day!

Ranch slowcooker chicken = SO GOOD! Also, don't forget your slow cooker mac and cheese. That stuff is fab.

Pedicures are great de-stressers. I like to go read outside in a park if the weather is nice. If it's not, tv on dvd! Lighting candles mellows me out too.

I'm sorry the car dealership is still sucking it up. Hopefully you won't have to deal with too much of their nonsense for long.

My dad is a car dealer- shoot me an e-mail about what is going on- I might have some advice! Double helpful advice since I grew up in the car biz, and now I'm a lawyer!

that buffalo chicken chili looks SO good! wow!

Glad he is coming back. Its amazing how much harder it is just one person. I can't imagine being a single parent.

Ugh I would hate having Peter gone. It definitely is nice to have company and help for the little things.

Sorry you're having such a rough week. Hopefully Reuben was able to keep you company a little bit!

I love slowcooker recipes, but they're often hard to make when I'm at work (don't like to leave it on during the day with the pup at home either) and the weekends get pretty busy. The bacon ranch recipe was AWESOME! I shared it with my mom and my dad has now requested it be a regular meal at home. Thanks for posting all your recipes, hope your weekend is better with the fam home and the pedicure!

I am the same way, if I am alone for dinner, I don't feel like making anything special just for me!

Glad he's coming home - if nothing else but to get a good nights sleep!

I am a huge letter writer when I have a complaint. My husband and I went to a place, there were like two tables, and our food took over an hour!

I wrote a letter to the manager, and I got a $20 gift certificate - no explanation or anything!

Hugs - and have a great weekend!
