Measurements, Book Review, Shoe?

ah! I can't believe there are so many lone shoppers out there! You go girls! I'll shop alone but I much prefer 1-2 besties going with me so we can help each other, give advice and just make it more of a trip. I find I have less buyer's remorse when I go with peeps too, need that validation I suppose! I mean, really, even when I go alone I send pics to my mom for advice!! And thanks for your sweet comments on my new items - I'm so excited! After playing with all of my new stuff yesterday, I ended up at 1,704 calories, 213 carbs, 57 fat grams and 105 protein grams. Here’s what I ate. Not bad, especially with the 6.25 miles and abs factored in – woo! I will say that I didn’t need 1.5 servings of cookies after dinner…. But I wanted it – so I went for it!

So earlier this week I had to measure myself for a bridesmaid dress… hadn’t measured in a while. Was at 31-26-35.5… up quite a bit from the last time I measured. But that’s okay – I’m back on it!

click to make larger.... the chart goes WAY back and man had I let the measuring go by the wayside!

I hope to measure again in a month and see some losses. Hard to believe looking at those numbers that last May I was at 30.5-24.5-33.5. Lovely that my chest stayed small but everything else got bigger. Ah to be a pear!! Haha I guess I should just be happy that I’ve maintained relatively well, but two extra inches on the hips is no friend to my pants… which is probably why I prefer dresses! Haha

So on to today, I just worked, walked 4 miles during lunch, worked more… worked late… then got on the road and finished up my audio book, My Sister’s Keeper. This book, by Jodi Picoult, was about a family divided in that one daughter had life-threatening cancer and the other daughter was conceived to be her donor. The story follows the tough decisions the family made, flashing back and forth in time, and from different perspectives. How it impacted the cancer-stricken daughter, the donating daughter, the forgotten son, and the impact this has all had on the parents, their marriage and more. It was an amazing story, with a lot of it focusing on the donating daughter suing her parents for the rights to her body – when giving a kidney is where she draws the line. This led to a great side story with the lawyer, his high school sweetheart, his medical condition and more. For those of have seen the movie know that the book is far more involved (as most are) but also that it has a COMPLETELY different ending. Like night and day. The book ending was far more shocking and depressing. Long story short, I give it a 4.5 out of 5, the only thing I would change would be a little bit less about the medical stuff. I get it, it’s important, but sometimes it wore on so much that I lost track of what I felt mattered, the characters, their feelings and their choices. I highly recommend it though, a long read but worth it!

I stopped by the library on the way home, then arrived home exhausted! I had lofty plans to cook, purge the closet some more and measure for the painters (want to have a ceiling painted)… doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Instead, I’m going to listen to my body which is saying, “I’m tired. Leave me alone.” It’s also saying,” I want these shoes!!”

Q: Do you like these shoes?! It’s okay if you don’t of course, I feel like they’re like certain breeds of dogs that shall remain nameless that are “so ugly they’re cute.” Tomorrow i'll take pics on my new dresses and post - yay!

Q: Do you take measurements? I see the benefit in once a month, but once a week clearly got to be too much for me!

Those shoes look cool!

I don't take measurements, but maybe I should? Not sure.. I sort of want to get a trainer actually.
Hope you're having a great day!

I wouldn't like those shoes on me, but I can see how on the right person they would look great.

I don't take measurements, but pretty soon I'm gonna start having my belly measured quite often, hehe! :) I do think it's a great tool when you're trying to reach a goal. Much more accurate than weight.

I think they're kind of cute. It's funny that you compared them to an ugly dog!

I giggled at the dog reference/comparison..

Honestly? I wouldn't probably buy those- I LOVE the concept, and everything about them- the thing I don't like is that there's so much "fabric/leather" in the front. I think if it were broken up, and you could see a sliver of skin between the toe portion and top ankle portion, I'd love them...make sense? :-/ You know I lurve your style!

Measurements are your friend and mine- Although taking measurements for dresses don't work for me....it's odd. I know how my body is and even if a certain size dress says it fits such-and-such waist measurement....sometimes I can't go by numbers...just what I kNOW.

I do keep track of measurements for weight loss purposes.

Yes I take measurements since I refuse to weigh myself. I only do it once a month, maybe in the future, when I've reached my goal I will do it 2x a month max. Sometimes it is still frustrating, I'm losing and all my clothes get more loose each day, so I think the inches must be WAYYY DOWN but....they creep!!! WTH!!! ;-0

I could never pull those shoes off, but on the right person with the right outfit, I'd like them.

I don't take my measurements...the few times I did in HS for costumes and stuff it always depressed me, so I know to stay away!

Hope you're having a great week!

I do like shoes but don't buy them often enough.

I haven't taken my measurements in awhile. When that happens i'm sure to have expanded. I need to take them to keep myself where i'm at.

I always say once a pear, always a pear. Even when I do a comp show and don't LOOK like a pear it finds it's way back :)

the shoes would of course look cute on you. I couldn't pull them off.
I hate measurements! I am so many different sizes on all areas that the dress is never really my size.

I'm not a fan of those shoes for myself, but I think someone else could totally pull it off.

I love those shoes!! They're a perfect muted tone to go with basically any dress you have.

I read My Sister's Keeper last summer...I actually thought it would be a good idea to finish the book when I was out at a water park with my family. Don't worry, I was balling in public.

I am sure those shoes are fashionable, but not a fan!

Glad you listened to your body and took it easy!

I measure myself - about every 3 months is plenty.

I got your package off to you yesterday finally!! The post office said you'll have it on or before June 22. :D

If those shoes were a dog, they might be a sharpei! hehe! I am sure they will look cute on you because you will know exactly what to wear them with and the whole outfit will rock.

I haven't done measurements in a long time. Need to do them but don't want to. :-(

Did you see "My Sister's Keeper" the movie? It is completely different from the book. I read the book first and was very disappointed in the movie. It seems like it should be illegal to change the ending... jmho.

I guess you did the see the movie. I need to read more carefully!

I'm not crazy about those shoes, but I always look at shoes for myself. I think they'd look cute on someone with better fashion sense (and thinner feet) than I have.

Ha, are you talking about French bulldogs? My roommate from college thinks that they are hideous...and not even cute. Poor Bodger.

I don't take measurements because I'm not sure where to take them. I think I end up measuring around the wrong place and end up with some wonky numbers. Maybe I should go to a tailor and have them show me how it's done.

I haven't measured in a very long time. I have an apple shape, so it's never very fun to see my measurements. I try to just be as healthy as possible and not stres about it :)

I think the shoes could be really cute on?
