Ah the Scales

So yesterday I was bored and digging around in 'my favorites' and came across a blog I had started earlier this year. It was similar to this one, but I didn't have Spark People which I truly think combined with the blog makes my life easier. Anyway, I found some weights from earlier this year that I'd posted. You know I started working out in April (4-5 days/week of cardio and 3 days of strength training). Even though I felt more toned I was still weighing around 136 and 133 and was just losing during the week, gaining on the weekend:

July 21, 2008: 133 =
April 15, 2008: 133 +
April 13, 2008: 131.5 -
April 11, 2008: 133 -
April 10, 2008: 135.5 -
April 9, 2008: 136 =
April 8, 2008: 136 +
April 7, 2008: 134

I just don't feel like I would have gotten through that without tracking everything! And i'm happy to report I again weighed 126 this morning. 10 pounds - yay!! Can't wait to reach my next goal of 125.... I just feel so positive about all of this. And guess what? My husband (who has been in this with me) has officially lost 20 pounds! Crazy. He says he needs to stop losing weight and do more strength training because he's 6'2" at 185 now! Either way, i'm so proud of him!

Sweet Puppy Does Auburn

I forgot to mention.... Reuben had a wonderful time in Auburn, too. He is the sweetest puppy! Here he is lounging around while we tailgate. I love him SO much!

Day 28: Monday, Sept. 29 Assessment

So today I had a really good workout, despite the fat that my foot kinda hurt a little…. Boo. I did a mile on the treadmill, but my foot hurt. So I did a mile on the elliptical, which hurt less, but still wasn’t “right.” I did a half mile on the stair climber which didn’t hurt at all… but then I gave up. At least I got in 2.5 miles… I can’t wait to be back to normal.

After my miles, I did chest, tris and abs. For chest, I grabbed a bench and 5- and 10-pound dumbbells. I did lying chest flies with 5-pound dumbbells and chest presses with 10-pound dumbbells. I grabbed a 20-pound EZ bar and did nosebreakers on the bench for triceps, and used the 5-pound dumbbells for kick backs. I also grabbed one of the 10-pound dumbbells and did tricep overhead extensions. Good stuff! Later I did abs- mostly mucho crunches, obliques with a ball and some Pilates teasers. Yay!

According to this site I burned this many calories:

1 4mph-mile walk 74
1 12-minute mile on elliptical 131
1 ½ mile on stair climber 50

Total: 255 calories burned

What I ate Today

Not bad! I felt fulfilled all day. Had a few too many snacks, but you know what – they were good! All in all, I had 1,469 calories, 38 grams of fat and 190 carbs – all in my REC zones – yay. And with my work out – it’s like I had 1,214 calories – great!

Assessments From the Weekend: Day 25 - 27

So today I weighed 126…. Lowest weight since I started! However, I don’t deserve it… I went to one of my favorite places in the world to be with some some of my best friends- Auburn!! A weekend back in my college town made me act (and eat.... and drink) like I was back in college.

Day 25: Friday, Sept. 26 Assessment

So Friday started out great with a healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks! As far as food, I only had 1,216 calories… but I also had 5 beers and two jim beam/diet cokes – eek! So I ended up at 1,891 calories, 28 fat grams and 184 carbs. Not good….What I ate Friday

Day 26: Saturday, Sept. 27 Assessment

So Saturday was good too…. Kind of. I started out with my Jimmy Dean d-light – yay! But lunch got a little messed up in that I wasn’t thinking about going by Subway (tailgate spot not near it like I thought) so I ended up eating ½ cheese burger and potato salad. Not awful – skipped chips/cookies/etc. Later, for dinner, I ordered a grilled chicken breast with a baked potato and broccoli. I had very little butter and honey mustard on my chicken/potato. The problem was that I drank… a lot… from noon until 3 a.m. We’re talking 13 hours… we’re talking 4 beers and 8 jim beam/diets – eek! My food was only 1,490…. But with the drinks I ended up at 2,670 calories, 166 carbs and 55 fat grams – eek! What I Ate Saturday

Day 27: Sunday, Sept. 28 Assessment

Apparently Sunday I said forget it – I don’t care! Haha I had 5 pigs in a blanket… eek… then I went to my favorite college Mexican restaurant… danger… danger. I had tons of chips, salsa, cheese dip and a chicken soft taco and ½ a burrito! Eek! Anyway, at the end of the day I ended up at 1,760 calories, 191 carbs (wow!) and 45 fat grams – oopsie…
What I ate Sunday

All in all I’m like okay… it could have been worse. However, I’ve made some learnings:
  1. No more beam/diets. I honestly thought they had less calories! I’m moving over to Vodka people!! I’m going to start making sweet tarts or firefly vodka with crystal light….

  2. No more Mexican. I just can’t be trusted. And I don’t even like it that much anymore. Just can’t do it at a restaurant!

  3. Prepare, prepare, prepare. I should have planned better to avoid eating bad at lunch and should have eaten the breakfast I brought Sunday instead of the little piggies.
Stick to it… just STICK to it. I’m happy now that I’ve lost weight but I’ve GOT to keep it up!

  4. I’m proud of a lot of my choices – it was a hard weekend but I learned a lot. And I really did have an EXCELLENT time!

Day 24: Thursday, Sept. 25 Assessment & New Weight!

Yes…. 126.5! Yay! That’s almost 10 pounds since Labor Day Weekend! I have no doubt I’ll fluctuate up (again) but it’s still nice to see progress/a downward trend! So today I wore flats and straight leg jeans (not skinny – straight – going to get skinnys at lunch so I can tuck into boots!). My flats aren’t super comfortable, so I definitely need to get some comfortable ones! Like with a round toe, maybe a bow? Here’s some I just found that I’ve decided I want! (something like them) Anyway – here’s how I did yesterday – not too bad!!
What I Ate

Calories: 1,326
Fat: 31
Carbs: 191

And guess what? I was able to walk 2 miles, do upper body strength training and do abs yesterday. The 2 miles felt great... but today my foot kind of hurts (ball of foot - not toe/gout/etc.). So i'm going to go try to get metasargalia pads during lunch...

Calories and carbs are in the REC zone, but fat was a tiny bit under. Not bad at all! I felt really full all day which is good too! Today we’re leaving for Auburn…. Although I’m a little concerned about the gas situation. Almost every station here is tapped out – and the ones who have gas, I’m not kidding, had lines 50+ deep. Eek! We’ll see. Wish me luck being healthy this weekend. My plan is to:

Bring Jimmy Dean D-lights for Saturday and Sunday breakfast
Bring 100-calorie packs for snacks on Saturday
Eat Chick-Fil-A chargrilled chicken salad for lunch on Saturday; eat Subway turkey sandwich on wheat for Saturday dinner (w/baked lays)
Pick up a thing of bagel bites so if we do get STARVED and want “drunk food” we can have some bites instead of ordering a pizza… or wings – eek!

Oh and fashion update! One of my favorite Atlanta boutiques is having sale – 25% off EVERYTHING in the store. No, I don’t really need anything – BUT – I had a $60 credit from January that was burning a hole in my pocket (mostly because it was a piece of paper – not a card or anything – I was so worried I’d lose it). So I went online and found some coats I liked that would literally cost $16 with the discount and credit. I went and found this…. I think it’s fabulous and different. Great for fall, can wear a black long sleeve under it for winter and it even looks good undone! I’m SO excited. BB Dakota named it 'the alpha coat'... I like that!

Day 23: Wednesday, Sept. 24, Assessment

This morning I weighed 127 – the lowest I’ve weighed since I started! Yay!! Here’s how I did yesterday…

Calories: 1,319
Fat: 35
Carbs: 188

What I Ate Today

All in REC zones! Yay! I didn’t eat the most nutritional foods…. To be honest… I had to leave work a little early because I felt dizzy/nauseated. I think it’s the medication – bleh. And I was craving Ramen noodles of all things! Haha Oh well – what’d done is done and it could have been worse. I feel better today and don’t plan on taking any more meds. I’m going to the doctor in an hour for a final look at my toe so wish me luck!

My First Shower: Mediterranean Menu

Greek Appetizer Skewers from Recipegirl.com

Greek Salad Bites from Recipegirl.com

Marinated Mushrooms from Recipegirl.com

Penne with Chicken Sausage from For the Love of Cooking

Pasta Salad in Vinaigrette from For the Love of Cooking

Tomato & Fresh Basil Crostini with feta and roasted garlic cheese spread from For the Love of Cooking

Herbed Greek Chicken Salad Pitas from Cookinglight.com

Pitas + Hummus from Trader Joe’s (1 bag of mini pitas and 4 flavors of hummus)

Baklava + Chocolate cover Pretzels from Trader Joe’s

Recipes

Greek Appetizer Skewers

1 block feta cheese, cut into 1/2-inch squares
30 pear or small cherry tomatoes
1/2 cucumber, sliced & then slice slices in half (need 30)
1/4 red onion, cut into small strips (about 1 inch x 1/2-inch)
toothpicks

Thread red onion onto toothpick with purple showing on top, then tomato, then cucumber. Use feta cube as a base for the appetizer- skewer the feta on the bottom; place on your platter.

Optional: Just before serving, whisk together about 2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar, 1/2 Tbsp. olive oil, salt & pepper to taste. Drizzle over skewers (try not to get too much dressing on the tops of the toothpicks, where people will pick them up to eat them).

Tips: Don’t attach feta until the end as it may break. And don’t use colored toothpicks – it dyes the cheese!

Yield: 20 to 30 appetizers.

Greek Salad Bites

1 oz. fat-free feta cheese crumbles
½ cup fat-free sour cream
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tbsp oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained and finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp cracked black pepper
¼ cup finely shredded fresh basil
¼ cup chopped Kalamata olives, finely diced

1½ medium English cucumbers

In a small bowl, stir together all ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours or overnight. Slice cucumbers on a slight diagonal into ¼-inch slices. Spoon ½ tbsp of the cheese mixture onto each cucumber slice. Arrange on serving platter. Serve immediately.

Yield: 20 to 30 appetizers

Marinated mushrooms

2 lbs fresh white button mushrooms
½ cup olive oil
½ cup white wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp crushed oregano
½ tsp chili pepper flakes, crushed

Trim mushrooms by cutting off a thin slice of the stem of each mushroom. Drop the mushrooms into boiling water and reduce the heat. Simmer for 5 minutes; do not boil. Drain the mushrooms and cover with cold water. Let stand until cool. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.Whisk olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt, oregano and chili pepper flakes in a bowl. Add mushrooms to the olive oil mixture and stir with a rubber spatula until well coated. Let stand at room temperature for 2 hours or longer, stirring occasionally.

Tips: These mushrooms are best when they have marinated for a long time. Take them out of the refrigerator in time for them to return to room temperature before serving. Serve sliced baguette when you display your mushrooms. Baguette slices dipped in the drippings can be considered another appetizer.

Penne with Chicken Sausage

1 tbsp olive oil, divided

4 tbsp yellow onions, diced

2 cloves of garlic, minced

5 garlic and herb chicken sausages, chopped into ½” pieces

2 tbsp yellow baby bell peppers, diced
2 tbsp red bell peppers, diced

10 grape tomatoes, cut in half
6 oz. penne, cooked per instructions (in boiled water for 12 minutes)

Salt and pepper to taste

Spray large, deep pan with olive oil flavored cooking spray, and set a pot of water to boil. Drop in 1 teaspoon of olive oil in pan over medium heat. Once hot, add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until browned. Season with salt and set aside on a plate. Add 2 teaspoons of olive oil to the same skillet over medium high heat. Once hot, add minced garlic, stirring constantly for 60 seconds. Set aside on same plate as onions. Add dry pasta to boiling water for 12 minutes, stirring occasionally. While pasta cooks, add sausage to skillet over medium heat and cook until brown, about 6-7 minutes then add onion, tomatoes, bell peppers and spinach to pan. Drizzle 1 teaspoon olive oil over mixture. Cook over medium heat until tomatoes are soft, about 3-4 minutes. Drain pasta and add to skillet. Stir, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well for 1-2 minutes then serve.

Pasta Salad in Vinaigrette (For the Love of Cooking)

6 oz. rotini (or pasta of choice), cooked per instructions

  • Handful of cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
  • 1 large cucumber, seeded & diced
  • 1/4 sweet yellow onion, diced
  • 1 orange bell pepper, diced
  • Feta cheese
  • Vinaigrette (recipe below)
  • Fresh basil, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste

Cook pasta per instructions, drain and cool. Once the pasta has cooled, add the cherry tomato halves, cucumber, onion, bell pepper, feta cheese and basil then mix thoroughly. Slowly add the vinaigrette, salt and pepper. Taste and add more dressing as needed.

Vinaigrette:

½ cup canola oil

3 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 tsp sugar

Salt and pepper

Combine ingredients with a whisk. Let it sit overnight so flavors marinate together.

Tomato and Fresh Basil Crostini with Feta and Roasted Garlic Cheese Spread

1/2 cup fat free feta cheese
1/2 cup fat free sour cream
1/2 head of roasted garlic, chopped
(recipe below)
Salt and pepper to taste

Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and spray tops with cooking spray. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and set aside. Lay the basil leaves on top of each other and roll into a tube, cut into thin slices. Spread the feta mixture evenly onto the crostini then top with a slice of tomato, sprinkle with sea salt & fresh cracked pepper and top with basil ribbons.

Roasted Garlic

1 head of garlic
1 tsp olive oil
Dash of sea salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice the top of the head off so every clove of garlic is exposed. Place on a small square of tinfoil.Drizzle with olive oil and salt to taste. Fold edges of tinfoil together and twist to make a sealed bundle.
Place in oven and bake for 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the garlic. Let cool before serving. Squeeze to remove the roasted cloves.

Herbed Greek Chicken Salad Pitas

½ tsp dried oregano

¼ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp black pepper, divided

¼ tsp salt, divided

Cooking spray

8 oz. skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes

Daily Assessment Catch-Up Time: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 21 – 23)

K – sorry! Eek! Traveling makes blogging hard…. Especially when you’re having more fun blogging about traveling than food! Time to play catch up....

Sunday, Sept. 21

So Sunday I was good (to make up for all of the drinks on Saturday I’m sure!). Here’s how it went:

Calories: 1,206
Fat: 35
Carbs: 135

What I ate

So calories and fat were in REC zone, but can you believe it, carbs were below the rec zone. I’m actually pretty pumped about this… As far as working out – I had every intention of doing upper body ST but didn’t…. I had to leave at 3 p.m. to catch my flight and just slept in, packed, chilled with Austin & Reuben and didn’t do it! Blah. Either way – overall – I was pumped about it. And I weighed 127.5 – yay!

Monday, Sept. 22

So this day was a toughie as I was in Chicago all day with no means to cook for myself… but still – I could make healthy choices for the most part. I’m still working on putting this into spark people but here goes:

9 a.m. Egg white omelet with vegetables and half a slice of wheat toast…. A few sliced potatoes
12:30 p.m. Halibut with sautéed mushrooms and asparagus…. A few bites of sweet potato mashed potatoes. NO BREAD – yay!
5:30 p.m. 2 cars crackers, 2 cheese cubes, 2 pieces of celery
5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. 4 glasses of white wine and 2 beers (6 drinks over 5 hours is pretty good, right?)
8 p.m. 4 slices of tomato/onion/mushroom pizza (little 3”x2” slices of thin crust pizza) I completely ignored the Chicago style meaty pizza… even though it looked amazing. I meant to have a bite since I’m here and all but forgot!
10:30 p.m. 1 serving of pretzels – my only snack! I just wanted something salty before bedtime and needed some carbs because I had to do a little bit of work… BLAH. It’s hard to edit when you’re tipsy….

I could have done better… and I didn’t work out at all…. But come on! I’m only in the city for two days – I have to take it all in and the hotel gym just isn’t calling my name! haha I’ll make up for it, especially now that I’m bootless!! I’m going to be back in the gym today – I’m so excited! I haven’t done a lunge or squat in almost two weeks – eek – this could be painful….

What I Ate Today I went on the high side for everything (in case of added fats, etc.) Ended up at 1,943 calories (eek!), 45 fat grams (in REC zone) and 120 carbs (not bad!)

Oh and update – the scale in my bathroom didn’t work! Eek! I tried to weigh in and nothing…. Then my omelet got there before I could call! (no one wants to weigh after an omelet). So I’m not weighing for Monday or Tuesday!

Tuesday, Sept. 23

9:30 a.m. Egg white omelet with vegetables… didn’t touch the bread or potatoes.

12:30 p.m. ½ Panini with mushroom, tomato, spinach, fresh mozzarella and pesto mayonnaise (asked for it without it… had to wipe it off but I’m sure I got at least 2 tbsp) & a salad with grilled chicken, 2 tbsp feta cheese, ¼ cup mushrooms and 2 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette dressing

5:30 p.m. 1 slice of pepperoni airport pizza with a 100-calorie pack of chips ahoy candy bites

8 p.m. ½ grilled chicken wrap (lettuce/tomato only) and 50 pretzel sticks

Eek! Here is how it went: What I Ate!

Not too bad: 1,500 calories, 46 fat and 139 carbs. Fat seems high to me…. It’s all CLOSE to good but not good – should have been better but honestly I was SO tired and just didn’t make good choices. Blah.

At least this morning - Wednesday, Sept. 24, I weighed 128.5 - only one pound up from the day I left. Not bad!!!

My Visit to Chicago... so Far!

So yesterday was a fantastic day for me here in Chicago - my first day out! Enjoy my 'photo journal' below!!
Yay! Time to go out and see the big city. Notice i'm not wearing my boot - yes - my foot is now normal size and tan again rather than purply red! I'm so pumped!!!! (not pumped enough to go to the hotel gym... but more on that later!)
So i'm staying at the amazing, amazing Conrad. Seriously - i love it here. I go to the concierge at 9:45 a.m. (stores open at 10 a.m.) and tell her I want to go shopping and ask for advice. She pulls out a map and shows me the different areas, but mostly she's like and if you get in that elevator (points 30 feet away) there's 4 stories of shopping just below us - if you hit 'Michigan Avenue' there's more... we're connected to Nordstorm. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Jackpot. I get on the magical elevator to my own personal heaven...
I land here, at a cafe outside Nordstrom. Love how you can see the city - so pretty!
This is the 4-story mall I walk through to get to Michigan Avenue.... awesome. I actually haven't even shopped in here yet, I was so ready to get outside!

My first picture outside in Chicago! I was still kind of trying to conceal my camera and look like a cool-non-tourist so it's a little low.... but yay - i've arrived!
Love it - a Gap on one corner and behind me is a Forever 21.... the FLAGSHIP. Oh no....
More pretty buildings and I LOVE the landscaping here. They're trying to make Atlanta more like this on Peachtree and i'm so glad - it's lovely!
So yeah.... the Forever 21 is HUGE. I mean two stories with elevators/escalators - EVERYTHING on their site in every color and every size.... DANGEROUS. I had a lot of luck here (who wouldnt'?) and just loved the store - LOVED IT. I just went out to Google to tell you guys the square footage and two bloggers reported that it's THREE stories not two... so I may go back during a break today! Can't find anything about the exact size, but it is like numerous rooms (some sunken) with their own personalities (some bright/happy, some vintage, some animal print, and clearly above I was in some twilightesque forest... love it). A sweet staffer told me to go around the corner to Luxe Cafe... loved it... might thank her if she's working when I go back to find this mysterious third level!!
Um, yeah.... here's where I was seated. 2-tops all along the windows at the corner of Michigan and Ontario. Fantastic.

Yeah it gets higher - it was at least 30 feet of windows.....

Up to this funky, fun ceiling! Love it! I ordered grilled halibut, asparagus and mushrooms (and a diet coke!). This is what they brought me....
HOLY POTATOES! I didn't order you. I JUST had to avoid a bread basket and now you're giving me 4 cups of carbs! So I tried to be good....
In the end I focused on the mushrooms, asparagus and fish... and had a few florets... and several bites of the sweet potatoes. NO regular potatoes though.... yes I know i'm amazing. haha
This is it from the outside!! I was in that circular thing.... and had no idea I was above Ann Taylor!! Wish i could shop but it's time to drop off the loot and get to the reason i'm here... the Folio Show!
One more shot of luxe...
And another random building shot. Now I don't care who sees me - hopped up on 2 diet cokes!

Look at my loot! Two sweater dresses (yes, same style different colors - one is gray and one purple!). Love them though - perfect length, have ruffles, have POCKETS (i'm dress-pockets obsessed), fit great. Now look at that sweater - it ties with a ribbon! It fits well.... i'm in love!
I did it... I bought skinny jeans! Figured investing $20 at XXI was better than $220 at Blue Genes by my house. IF I like them i'll consider going designer... but time will tell. I also got mustard and navy cute tees (only $12 each! a fab find) and I LOVE that top on the left. Can wear it to work and in the winter i'll layer a black fitted long-sleeved tee under it....
So the left is a purple knit/sweater dress- yay for color pops! The middle is that pretty purplu blue i'm all over - it ties in the back - great for work and out. The two to the right are again same style/different colors. One is blue for Auburn games and the other is gray/black for every other day. The fit so good - love the fitted bottoms and big cowl necks. And only $11.50 - I kid you not! Can't wait to wear them!
Time to go to the folio show!!!!!!! I'm on the editorial track to learn tips on how to engage readers, get user generated content, etc. The show was great and in my session was this guy typing all of his notes on a laptop.... a kindred spirit!! He (Paul) was super nice, from Lacrosse Magazine, just got engaged, had never been to Chicago, was traveling with two women, invited me to tag along because I was alone! Nicest ever! So we walk to the reception and meet his two co-workers Kira and Gabriella - LOVE THEM! They were all super chatty and fun. They were like "come on- we're 2 Greeks and an Italian - you're NOT eating alone!" haha I had a great time at the reception getting to know them. We closed it down and then set a meeting place for dinner (in 20 minutes!). I ran back to the hotel, changed dresses, brushed my teeth, talked to Sweet Austin and met them back at the Mariott (which they said didn't sound nearly as nice as the Conrad where i'm at... yay Austin you're th e best!)

They had their hearts set on Chicago style pizza and had heard of this place.... I didn't have the Chicago but did have the thin crust veggie and it was good. It's crazy here - our wait was 40 minutes but you pre-order your pizza so w hen you sit it's there in 5!
Here are two of my new friends! They live in Baltimore. Gabriella (on left) is an idential twin (people who know me know I love twins and always seem to cross paths with them!) and just celebrated her year-anniversary in August. She's so cute and tiny - i'd already noticed her at the conference because of her cute top, jeans and bag! Kira has been married for 19 years and has 4 kids - 3 boys and a girl. Her stories about them were awesome! She seems like a really cool, great parent. Below is Paul - how I got in the group!! He's Jewish/Greek and is engaged to Christine. He's editor at their publication and is totally this crazy organized, gets-everything-together kind of person. Him and Gabriella are like brother and sister - she calls him dad because he's so on top of stuff. Hilarious! They're all just awesome and i'm SO glad i had them!
Yay! Check out that Chicago pizza.... whoa.... see the little thin one off to the side... yeah - I had 4 pieces of it! (2"x3" pieces) - veggie! By now we had reception drinks in us and two drinks from the pizza place... but wanted one more!
We walked around and ended up at Pizzerina Uno because they had outdoor seating. Our waiter was SUCH an asshole, but thankfully we didn't have to talk to him much. I had one glass of wine here.
After that we called it a night at 10:30. They all walked me to my hotel - so sweet! I got upstairs and called Austin -he'd been playing poker with his best friend. He placed 4th in the tournament! He's really good and I was super proud of him!

K- I need to get in the shower now and pack and get to the Folio show!! My egg white omelette is coming at 9 a.m. (with a diet coke). I can't wait!!!!

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Time to Unpack

So I'm typically the worst packer ever. I bring WAY too much and plan for every temperature, mood, whim, etc. But this time I was strategic! I thought hard, chose one color (black) and really brought what i normally need instead of what-I-might-need-just-in-case (i.e. everything). After taking pictures of the room it was time to unpack! Toiletries! (notice all of the foot meds BLAH)
I'm so proud of me! (and so glad they have a DVD player!) If my foot feels better i'll hit the hotel gym, if not - it's Pilates all day long!
My PJ's - i'm loving Hue!
I'm hoping I can work out... we shall see!
I wore a dress on the plane, and brought 3 more for 2 days. Figured one extra outfit wouldn't hurt! And I brought a jacket because conferences always seem so cold!
Yay! Fun reading material!! I HAVE to finish Love the One You're With.... it's getting rediculous how long it's taking. My final essentials: laundry bag (thanks, Mom!) New shoes to go with each of my dresses, my carry-on bag (big in case I get lucky shopping!) my purse (I heart coach thanks to Austin) and my laptop - gotta have it!

K - off to the shower and then shopping. The conference starts at 2 so that gives me a solid 3.5 hours to shop (and eat lunch)! Hope it goes well!!!

Loving It Here - Picture Post!

So the flight was nice - had a wonderful conversation with an elderly man who was very open, honest and friendly. We landed and it was smooth getting to baggage claim. The taxi line was a bit out of control, but once I got in I was good to go! He drove FAST but it was great to take in the whole city. I am SMACK downtown - LOVE IT - the city is just awesome. The hotel I'm at is great! I had every intention of going out to eat but wow - once I got here I just crashed! I took tons of pictures of the room and ordered room service. Now i'm snuggled up online watching Sex and the City Season 2 on DVD - awesome!!! Here's pics.... I LOVE this room...

The entrance

Yay! Big TV, Stereo, CD/DVD Player!

Nice desk with great info!

Cute sitting area - love the ottoman!

Yay - king size bed! And one of 4 phones in the room - random!

Love the bathroom - granite is so pretty and it makes me want to take a bath!

Nice! Note the scale - perfect! Exactly like my home scale!
hehe HELLO! Love that magnifying mirror!
